Job summary

Prudential is seeking a senior risk professional to lead non-financial and operational risk across Head Office and LBUs in Malaysia. You will develop and maintain risk frameworks, oversee RCSA processes, and ensure data quality in ORM systems to drive informed governance.

You will act as Group Risk Steward, provide insights on incidents, and lead risk improvement projects while engaging senior stakeholders. Strong analytics, AI skills, and change experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor / Master’s Degree with relevant professional qualifications.

• Operational / non-financial risk expertise with financial services knowledge (insurance preferred).

• Oversee data quality within ORM module for Head Office and LBUs.
• Coordinate the Group-wide Risks and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) and maintain dynamic RCSA.
• Act as Group Risk Steward for selected operational risk areas with reporting to governance forums.
• Review internal incidents, root causes, gaps, mitigations and track actions.
• Provide ad hoc support and conduct operational risk training.
• Lead non-financial risk projects aligned to strategic goals.

• Lead, drive and manage the Group's non-financial & operational risk management methodology / framework (incl. risk taxonomy, control library and risk appetite), policies, and standards, by identifying and implementing forward-thinking and innovative approaches to risk management. Maintain awareness of best practices in the industry for non-financial & operational risk management. Oversee and review data quality within the PRISM - ORM module for Head Office and a portfolio of LBUs, ensuring adherence to the Group's non-financial and operational risk management methodology and framework.
• Thorough understanding of non-financial & operational risk environment for Head Office and a portfolio of LBUs. Coordinate the Group-wide Risks and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA). Oversee and maintain a "dynamic" RCSA, together with independent challenge, for Head Office and a portfolio of LBUs.
• Act as the Group Risk Steward for selected operational risk areas on a Group-wide basis, with the responsibilities for reviewing, overseeing and reporting of these risks to Group / Local Risk Governance Forums.
• Detailed review and provide valuable insights on internal operational risk incidents (incl. risk appetite events) for Head Office and a portfolio of LBUs. Ensure investigations are appropriately completed, root causes are identified, gaps / issues are mitigated, and actions are comprehensive with tracking to implementation. Provide accurate and timely reporting of risk appetite events (including new and status update thereafter) for Head Office and a portfolio of LBUs to Group Risk Governance Forum.
• Provide ad hoc support to Head Office and a portfolio of LBUs to advance non-financial risk management skills and risk awareness. Where necessary, conduct operational risk training (incl. practices, processes and systems / tools).
• Lead and drive non-financial & operational risk management projects when required in pursuit of the Group's / department's strategic goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor / Master's Degree with relevant professional qualifications.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with a collaborative approach and ability to command the trust and buy-in of senior stakeholders. Ideally having existing relationship management responsibilities with senior stakeholders in the current role. Proven negotiation and influencing skills.
• Operational / non-financial risk and internal control professional with strong financial services knowledge, preferably in insurance.
• Strong data analytics and AI capabilities, with proven experience in leveraging large datasets and applying data modelling, machine learning, and automation techniques to enhance risk insights and decision-making.
• Intimate knowledge of the application and components of a strong non-financial risk framework.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation and facilitation capabilities.
• Strong management ability, and a demonstrable track record of commercial / delivery success. Results-orientated.
• Strong conceptual and strategic thinker with the ability and vision to see the big picture.
• Flexible skill set across multiple non-financial risk disciplines.
• Experience in change and transformation with demonstrated flexibility and agility.
