Job summary

PETROS is seeking a senior Government Relations professional to support strategic interactions with government stakeholders at federal, state, and local levels. The role requires translating policy developments into business implications and coordinating across PETROS to ensure timely, consistent engagement aligned with corporate objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, international relations, law, communications, economics or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in government relations or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience engaging senior stakeholders and preparing executive briefs and meeting materials.
• Practical understanding of Malaysian government institutions; Sarawak knowledge preferred.
• Strong written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; knowledge of local Sarawak languages is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain government stakeholder maps, profiles, and engagement plans across federal, state, divisional, and local levels.
• Coordinate meetings, briefings, site visits, and follow-ups to ensure timely and consistent PETROS engagements.
• Monitor government priorities, policies, and announcements; assess implications and provide evidence-based insights to management.
• Prepare executive briefing notes, stakeholder profiles, engagement strategies, talking points, and post-engagement reports.
• Identify government stakeholders early in projects and coordinate cross-functional preparation without taking ownership from business owners.
• Track commitments, escalate risks, and ensure closure of actions with accountable owners.
• Maintain records of engagements and produce dashboards on relationship health and compliance with policies.
• Represent PETROS at government meetings, contribute to Government Relations plans and risk reviews.
