Job summary

Confidential in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant (Japanese speaking) to join a newly created multinational finance team. You will own the general ledger for our Japanese entities and act as the finance point of contact for Japan, while supporting AP/AR activities for the market.

In this role you will manage month-, quarter- and year-end closings, prepare journal entries, perform reconciliations and support tax compliance, transitions and ERP initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in General Ledger or financial accounting, in an international SSC/GBS or multinational environment.
• Hands-on experience with Japanese accounting, tax and reporting requirements.
• Strong command of month-end closing, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, fixed assets and journal entries.
• Willingness to support AP/AR for Japan alongside GL responsibilities; cross‑functional collaboration across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing activities for the Japanese entities.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, provisions and FX revaluations.
• Perform balance sheet reviews and reconciliations; resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting and intercompany activity.
• Support tax compliance in Japan and assist with statutory financial statements and audits.
