Job summary

Talent Recruit in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Japanese-speaking Finance & Accounts Executive for its client in the Retail industry, based at KL Sentral. The role covers Malaysia accounting, with additional responsibilities for Singapore, and supports financial reporting to Japan HQ.

You will prepare financial statements in MFRS and JGAAP, handle cash flow, budgets, and variances, and liaise with the Primo Singapore team and headquarters.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma or Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–5 years in Finance/Accounts with full set of accounts knowledge.
• JLPT N2 or higher Japanese proficiency preferred; training available.
• Business-level English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial reports and tax filings under MFRS for Malaysia.
• Prepare JGAAP statements for Japan HQ and consolidation schedules.
• Prepare Japanese-language materials for Board meetings.
• Manage cash flow, budgets, and variance analysis.

Job description

Company Background:

We are seeking for a Japanese speaking -Finance & AccountsExecutive for our client in the Retail industry, with their office based inKL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur.

The Finance & Accounts Executiveis responsible for finance and accounting for the Malaysia entity, with additional responsibility for the Singapore entity. The role supports financial reporting to Japan headquarters and communication among management, headquarters, and local teams.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Malaysia Finance & Accounting:

• Prepare financial reports, assist with tax filings, and handle period-end closing in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and applicable tax laws.
• Prepare financial statements under Japanese Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (JGAAP) for Japan headquarters and submit consolidation reporting schedules to its accounting department.
• Prepare financial reporting materials in Japanese for Board of Directors meetings.
• Process bank transfers, prepare cash flow schedules, and manage funds.
• Prepare budgets, monitor actual performance against budgets, and analyze variances in gross profit, expenses, and other financial items.

2. Singapore Finance & Accounting:

• Coordinate with the outsourced bookkeeping provider in Singapore and handle procedures with banks and other financial institutions.
• Prepare JGAAP financial statements for Japan headquarters and submit consolidation reporting schedules to its accounting department.
• Prepare financial reporting materials in Japanese for Board of Directors meetings.
• Prepare cash flow schedules, manage funds, prepare budgets, and monitor actual performance against budgets, including variance analysis of gross profit and expenses.
• Maintain effective communication with Primo Singapore team members and coordinate and verify accounting figures with the merchandising department.

3. Management Support:

• Support management-level communication and decision-making among the Director, Japan headquarters, and local team members.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field.
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in Finance or Accounts related position with good understanding in full sets of accounts in accordance to MFRS compliance
• Japanese proficiency at JLPT N2 and above is preferred. Candidate with no certification, butfluent in conversing, reading, and writing in Japanese are encouraged to apply, training will be given onprofessional accounting terms
• Must haveBusiness-level proficiency in English
