Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related discipline.

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Production experience with React/TypeScript frontend and Python backend (FastAPI or Django).
• PostgreSQL schema design, querying, and basic performance tuning.

Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver impactful features for Opal, our AI-driven recruitment platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain full-stack features on Opal, using React for the frontend and Python services and REST APIs on the backend.
• Write and review production-quality code, including raising and addressing pull requests.
• Model and query data in PostgreSQL, ensuring schema changes are backward-compatible.
• Debug issues across browser, API, and database layers, working directly with end users.
• Collaborate with product and recruiting operations to turn complex requests into shippable solutions.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Legally eligible to work in Malaysia (Malaysian citizen, permanent resident, or existing Employment Pass). Visa sponsorship is not available.
• Minimum 5 years’ professional software development experience.
• Production experience building user interfaces with React and TypeScript.
• Production experience building backend services and REST APIs in Python (FastAPI or Django).
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, querying, and basic performance tuning.
• Daily use of Git in a team environment (branches, pull requests, code review).
• Ability to take a feature from specification to production with light supervision.
• Design, build, and maintain full-stack features on Opal (React on the frontend; Python services and REST APIs on the backend).
• Write and review production-quality code, raise and address pull requests.
Model and query data in PostgreSQL.
• Debug issues across browser, API, and database with the people who use the product every day.
• Work with product and recruiting operations to turn a messy request into a shippable slice.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Docker and local container workflows.
• Familiarity with AWS or equivalent cloud platforms for deploying and operating services.
• Experience with Next.js.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Redis or similar cache/queue tools.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
