Job summary

Uni Enrol Sdn Bhd is seeking a frontend engineer to shape the technical direction and build interactive, SEO-friendly web apps using React, Next.js and TypeScript.

You will collaborate with product managers and UI/UX designers to translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive experiences while owning frontend observability, monitoring and automated testing architectures. You will also act as a technology scout to evaluate emerging frameworks and manage technical debt.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of frontend-focused software engineering experience.
• Production experience with React, TypeScript and modern rendering strategies.
• Experience writing semantic HTML, CSS with SEO, Core Web Vitals and accessibility.
• Experience with secure auth flows (JWT, OAuth).
• Strong architectural sense and ability to explain tradeoffs.
• Experience shipping production apps using AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience mentoring others and leading code reviews.

Job description

Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer and collaborating closely with our frontend lead, you will help shape our technical direction while building highly interactive, SEO-friendly web applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript. You will collaborate seamlessly with product managers and UI/UX designers to translate complex Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive user experiences. Beyond core feature development, you will have the unique opportunity to take full ownership of our frontend infrastructure by establishing and improving our observability, monitoring, and automated testing architectures. Furthermore, you will act as the team's technology scout—continuously evaluating emerging frameworks, tools, and industry trends to actively propose architectural improvements and strategically manage technical debt.

Required

4+ years of software engineering experience, with a primary focus on frontend development.

Production experience with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend rendering strategies (e.g., SSR, SSG, ISR) to optimize performance and SEO.

Production experience writing semantic HTML and modern CSS, with a deep understanding of web best practices (SEO, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, and web security).

Demonstrated experience integrating secure user authentication flows (JWT, OAuth).

Deep development & architecture experience where you have designed, built, and operated production systems, and can explain the tradeoffs you made.

Demonstrated ability to ship production-ready applications using AI-assisted development tools with technical depth to discern, scrutinize, and ensure high-quality AI-generated outputs instead of relying on AI to pilot the direction.

Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring developers through code reviews, providing reliable engineering estimates, and establishing engineering best practices.

Nice to have

Experience with Next.js 14+ or similar modern web frameworks (e.g., Nuxt.js, Remix), coupled with a strong understanding of the Node.js ecosystem for handling server-side rendering, API routes, or Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) patterns.

Experience with modern hosting platforms (e.g., Vercel, Netlify, AWS Amplify) and an understanding of serverless functions or edge deployment concepts.

Experience architecting automated testing strategies (unit, integration, and E2E using Playwright or Cypress) to ensure UI reliability

Deep understanding of complex client-side state architecture and data-fetching/caching strategies (e.g., TanStack Query at scale)

Proven experience building and maintaining internal design systems or heavily customizing modern build tools (Vite, Webpack) for performance

Knowledge of monorepos (npm/yarn workspaces), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools like Docker.

Active engagement with the broader frontend community (e.g., open-source contributions, technical writing, or tracking bleeding-edge web standards)
