ABB invites a Senior Field Service Engineer to join its team in Malaysia. You will perform complex field service tasks on 800xA safety systems, plan and manage site work and subcontractors, and drive customer satisfaction through timely, high-quality service.

You will also identify service opportunities, communicate timelines, and guide junior staff while upholding ABB's safety standards. Onsite role with focus on oil, gas, and power sectors.

Formación

• Graduate engineer in instrumentation or electrical engineering.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in customer support / project / service engineer roles for System 800xA safety systems.
• Hands-on experience in 800xA-based integrated control and safety system (hardware and software).
• Knowledge of FSMS and functional safety certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of IEC61511/IEC61508 and related engineering practice.
• Industrial networking and network switch configuration experience.
• Cyber security experience for 800xA-based systems.
• Analytical, self-starter, resilient and adaptable.

This position reports to:

Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work of medium to high complexity as per work instructions and ABB guidelines. Each day, you will deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. You will also showcase your expertise by working with customer to identify opportunities in the installed base, to improve system performance and operational performance.

The work model for the role is: Onsite

This role is contributing to the PAEN-Qatar. Main stakeholders are PAEN.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Performing complex field service tasks, identifies technical problems, and makes analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform.
• Planing and preparing site work for larger project team and manages related subcontractors at site.
• Contributing to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work as per customer order and expectations.
• Ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer experience and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.
• Taking actions to identify new service business opportunities for ABB, in close cooperation with customer and other ABB teams.
• Coaching technicians and engineers and supervising complex site activities.

Qualifications

• Graduate Engineer in instrumentation, Electrical or Equivalent Engineering degree.
• Must have minimum 8 years of experience of at least 5 years as customer support / project / service engineer of System 800xA based safety systems preferably in Oil & Gas / Power & Water industry.
• Good hands-on experience in system 800xA based integrated control and safety system (both hardware and software) is a Must-have with AC800MHI library-based application development – project & commissioning
• Knowledge of FSMS (functional safety management system) is a Must-have for this role and valid Functional Safety certifications preferred such as TUV FS engineer, ABB certifications etc.
• Knowledge of Functional safety technical standards IEC61511, IEC61508 and corresponding system engineering practice experience.
• Hands on Experience in Industrial networking, network switch configuration
• Hands on experience in Cyber security for 800xA based systems
• Be an analytical thinker, self-starter, resilient and highly adaptable- in line with ABB's latest advance service & digital portfolio
• Hands on Experience in industrial communication protocols like Modbus- RTU & TCP, OPC, etc.
