Job summary

Astro Malaysia is seeking a senior API/microservices engineer to join our engineering team in Kuala Lumpur. You will design and implement RESTful services using NodeJS, build scalable cloud-based solutions on AWS, and lead initiatives across architecture, development, and deployment.

You will collaborate with Architects, Product Owners, DevOps, and Security to deliver high-availability systems, drive API strategy with OpenAPI specs, and mentor engineers while embracing agile practices and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of development on an Agile Team.
Expert in developing REST services and APIs using NodeJS.
6+ years of full-time hands on experience in API/microservices programming.
Strong experience in designing and developing enterprise cloud-based solutions using AWS.
Services including API Gateway, Lambda, S3, RDS , IAM, Cognito, SNS, VPC, EBS, AWS Route 53, Cloud Watch is a must.
Design & develop Web, APIs & Cloud based solutions is a must
Proficient in database concepts including schema design, querying, performance tuning and debugging (Both SQL and No-SQL databases)
Implementing Serverless Software development using Amazon Lambda written in NodeJS is must.
Event-driven architectures using services such as SNS, SQS, EventBridge.
Understanding and experience in developing solutions using application layer protocols, such as TCP/IP, HTTP/S, and Web Sockets.
Ability to write automated unit test cases using mocking frameworks
Very good experience with Source Control Management Tools such as git
Need to have a good object-oriented programming knowledge (OOD, SOLID & Design patterns)
Modern data architectures (e.g. Micro Service, event driven architectures, stream processing, and integrating real time analytics into customer applications is desirable)
Have a good eye for NFRs (Scalability, extensibility, reliability etc) while evaluating design.
Working Knowledge of Agile-Scrum Methodology.
Experience in executing CI/CD processes in AWS environments is desirable
Modern platform API design (OPEN API Specification is desirable)
Should have excellent problem-solving skills with good logical and analytical skills
Ability to plan, execute projects to deliver in time and with quality.
Excellent Communication, management reporting and collaboration skills.
Lead a team of highly motivated and technically strong developers.

Responsibilities

Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle
Design high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, delivering high availability and performance
Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting complex production issues and performance bottlenecks.
Collaborate closely with Solution Architects, Product Owners, Infrastructure, Security, and DevOps teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
Define solution design & system architecture for customer facing & backend application
Conduct technology benchmarking and industry analysis to align the strategic direction
Conceptualize and verbalize the benefits of technology in solving real business problems
Develop systems with scalability and flexibility in mind
Improve software quality using agile practices such as code review, unit testing and integration testing
Prepare architectural and other technical documents
Troubleshooting of bugs and enhancing of software
Manage current operational databases and applications
Write effective Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and technical documentation
Collaborate with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions
Provide support to SIT and UAT, investigate and resolve technical issues reported in projects
Conduct system and performance management, application vulnerability management and control, software release management
Plan and commission production system implementation
Proactively leads, guides, influences for providing feedback and technical guidance to project managers on issues of critical importance for achieving the best solution(s) to meet the business objectives
