Job summary

Private Advertiser in Shah Alam seeks a senior leader to own sustaining engineering for mature semiconductor equipment, driving reliability, yield, and long-term roadmap with global partners. You will manage ECNs/ECOs, cost-down programs, and quality initiatives, while leading a local team and coordinating with European R&D to align on SEMI standards.

The role requires 10+ years in semiconductor equipment, a mechanical/mechatronics/manufacturing background, and fluency in English and Chinese,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering required.
• 10+ years of technical experience in semiconductor equipment (front-end or back-end) with leadership in Sustaining Engineering, Value Engineering, or Product Lifecycle Management.
• Deep understanding of semiconductor assembly machinery, high-precision mechatronics, or capital equipment.
• Demonstrated track record in design updates, cost-down initiatives, root-cause analysis (8D, 5-Why), and standard compliance (SEMI).
• Language: Fluent in English and Chinese (written and spoken).
• Leadership in cross-cultural European-Asian environments and minimal travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead post-launch engineering activities for mature equipment lines, ensuring reliability, yield, and performance.
• Manage ECNs/ECOs, design updates, obsolescence, and continuous product enhancements.
• Oversee cost-reduction programs and 3rd-level technical escalations with Product Marketing, Tech Support, and Operations.
• Control local engineering budgets, headcount planning, and resource allocation for Shah Alam.

Job description

Direct Impact on Active Products: Own the continuous improvement, reliability, and technical roadmap for proven, high-volume semiconductor equipment deployed globally.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Lifecycle & Sustaining Ownership

Lead post-launch engineering activities for mature equipment lines (Die Attach, Packaging, and Plating), ensuring long-term product reliability, yield, and performance.

Manage engineering change management (ECNs/ECOs), design updates, component obsolescence, and continuous product enhancements.

Ensure strict compliance with global industry standards (including SEMI) and internal Product Innovation Processes.

2. Cost Reduction & Quality Engineering

Drive value engineering (VAVE) and product cost-reduction programs across local engineering streams.

Oversee 3rd-level technical escalations for high-priority field issues, partnering with Product Marketing, Tech Support, and Operations.

Optimize production work instructions, technical documentation, and test system assets to maintain high manufacturing quality.

3. Site Leadership & Team Operations

Manage local engineering budgets, headcount planning, and resource allocation for the Shah Alam facility.

Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Engineering Team Leaders, R&D Project Managers, Product Quality Engineers, and Technical Support Specialists.

Represent the local sustaining engineering site in global strategic reviews with European leadership.

Candidate Profile / Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s or MBA is an advantage).

Experience: 10+ years of technical experience in semiconductor equipment (front-end or back-end) with proven leadership in Sustaining Engineering, Value Engineering, or Product Lifecycle Management.

Core Skills:

Deep understanding of semiconductor assembly machinery, high-precision mechatronics, or capital equipment.

Demonstrated track record in design updates, cost-down initiatives, root-cause analysis (8D, 5-Why), and standard compliance (SEMI).

Language Requirement: Fluent in English and Chinese (written and spoken) is required to manage supplier and stakeholder communications across regional Asian markets.
