ASE SEMICONDUCTOR (PENANG) SDN. BHD. is seeking a Senior SQE to lead supplier quality management for semiconductor backend assembly.

You will partner with material suppliers and cross‑functional teams to ensure quality, reliability, and business objectives are met. The role encompasses supplier quality excellence, excursion management, supplier qualification, and implementing robust quality systems across the assembly supply chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
• 5+ years in supplier quality management within semiconductor manufacturing.
• Experience leading supplier audits and corrective action programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead validation of rejects and ensure internal containment.
• Coordinate with reliability, product engineering and manufacturing on failure analyses.
• Drive root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone analyses.
• Lead containment, corrective and preventive actions with timely closure.
• Manage supplier quality performance and supplier RMA handling.
• Plan and conduct supplier quality audits per ISO9001, IATF16949, VDA6.3.
• Review supplier process changes and coordinate cross-functional evaluations.
• Mentor SQE, technicians and IQA operators; drive Lean Six Sigma initiatives.

Job description

ASE PG is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior SQE to support supplier quality management for semiconductor backend assembly operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the material suppliers and ASE’s cross‑functional teams to ensure supplier performance meets ASE’s quality, reliability, and business requirements.

This role is responsible for driving supplier quality excellence, leading the supplier quality excursion & issue resolution, managing supplier qualification activities, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring robust quality systems throughout the semiconductor assembly supply chain.

Job Descriptions

Supplier Quality Issue Resolution

Lead the validation of the reject and ensure internal containment in-place.

Collaborate with reliability, product engineering, and manufacturing teams during:

Failure analysis investigations

Reliability qualification activities

Drive the supplier for the root cause investigations using structured methodologies such as: 8D investigation, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis

Lead the supplier containment, corrective actions, and preventive action implementation.

Ensure timely closure and effectiveness verification of supplier corrective actions.

Handling the nonconforming part return to supplier (RMA)

Manage quality performance of the critical material suppliers.

Quality performance (Supplier escapee incidents, customer return).

Delivery performance

Cost

Plan and conduct supplier quality audits according to ISO9001, IATF16949 and VDA6.3 requirement.

Assess supplier compliance with ASE quality standards and industry requirements.

Follow up on audit findings through closure.

Review and approve supplier process changes request.

Coordinate with Cross-functional team to evaluate: Equipment changes, Material changes, Site transfers and Process optimization projects

Ensure proper risk assessment and qualification before implementation

Lead qualification of new suppliers, assembly sites, and manufacturing processes.

Review and approve:

• Process flow documentation, Control plans and FMEA
• Change notifications

Support NPI, package development, and coordinating the IQA buyoff for engineering materials.

Identify and execute quality improvement opportunities across supplier quality management processes.

Lead projects focused on:

• IQA process and system improvement
• IQA measurement optimization

Promote Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in any engineering fields.

Experience

5+ years of experience in Supplier quality management and semiconductor manufacturing.

Strong experience with supplier quality management and semiconductor backend assembly.

Proven experience leading supplier audits and corrective action programs.

Good understanding of semiconductor backend FOL & EOL assembly processes and Supplier quality management processes including:

Knowledge of assembly materials: Components, Lead frame, Substrate/PCB, Mold Compound. Bond Wire, Solder Materials, Die Attach Materials.. etc.

Quality Tools: 8D Problem Solving, SPC, MSA, PFMEA, Control Plans, DOE, APQP/PPAP

Provide technical leadership for critical supplier quality issues

Mentor junior SQE, technician and IQA operators

Drive strategic supplier quality improvement initiatives effectively.
