Job summary

RED is expanding its Kuala Lumpur office and seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and project coordination for data centres and other sectors such as commercial, hotel, and retail. The role emphasizes client-facing responsibilities, robust technical knowledge, and hands-on delivery within a building services consultancy.

Applicants should be licensed or pursuing professional status; experience with international consulting and knowledge of BS/SC standards are preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed or degree qualified in engineering with international consulting experience.
• Working towards or achieved MCIBSE/MIEE/Professional/Chartered Engineer status.
• Experience in specification design/drawing for at least one building type.
• Knowledge of BS SC standards and international design codes.

Responsibilities

• Run medium to large size projects including development, design, and coordination of electrical installations.
• Provide client-facing leadership and liaison with clients and contractors.
• Develop and specify control systems, instruments, and operating systems for building services.
• Validate designs and ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements.
• Mentor trainees and junior engineers.

We now seek an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to be based in our KL office to inspire others. You will have the ability to run small and large sized projects, undertake a client facing role in the development, design, and co-ordination of engineering projects You will have experience in the delivery of data centres along with other sector experience including commercial, hotel, retail, and hotel design desirable.

Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both with colleagues and clients, and experience working on innovative projects with leading client organisations, and contractors will equip you to take a future pro‑active role in forging client relationships of our sector portfolio.

You will possess good commercial awareness, in addition to having robust technical knowledge relevant to building services design, and capable of incorporating those technologies into the hotel / hospitality and leisure sector. The position will ideally suit someone who is currently working in building service consultancy and is prepared to work ‘hands on’.

Job Description

• Responsible for running of medium size projects. Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc.
• Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
• Surveys tests and reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations
• Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
• Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client
• Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams
• Carries out engineering calculations to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
• Responsible for technical content and accuracy of Trainee, Graduates and Engineers
• Validation and checking of designs and specifications

Experiences / Qualifications

• Licensed or degree qualified or equivalent experience and have sufficient experience with international Consulting Engineering.
• Working towards or have achieved MCIBSE/MIEE/Professional/Chartered Engineer or equivalent status
• Experience of specification design/drawing for at least one building type
• Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
• Knowledge of MS Office apple excel etc
• Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
• Good understanding of BS SC standards and international design codes and standards
• Ability to prioritise own workload
• Ability to work to deadlines
