Job summary

Kairo Technology Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead design and coordination of data centre electrical infrastructure. The role involves reviewing SLDs, schematics, and installation drawings for mission-critical facilities with focus on MV/LV power distribution and UPS systems.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in electrical engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and familiarity with IEC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience (8+ years for senior).
• Strong experience in electrical power distribution and engineering design.
• Data centre or mission-critical facility experience preferred.
• Familiarity with MV switchgear, transformers, LV switchboards, UPS, batteries, generators, busduct systems.
• Able to review electrical SLDs, schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support electrical design and engineering activities for data centre projects.
• Prepare and review electrical SLDs, schematics, layouts and installation drawings.
• Perform calculations: load, transformer and generator sizing, UPS sizing, cable sizing, short-circuit, protection, earthing.

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognised qualification.

Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, with 8+ years preferred for senior candidates.

Strong experience in electrical power distribution and engineering design.

Data centre or mission-critical facility experience is highly preferred.

Familiarity with equipment such as MV switchgear, transformers, LV switchboards, UPS, batteries, generators and busduct systems.

Able to understand and independently review electrical SLDs, schematics and technical drawings.

Familiarity with relevant IEC standards and electrical design practices.

Experience with AutoCAD is required; experience with Revit/BIM and electrical engineering calculation software would be an advantage.

Strong technical problem-solving and engineering coordination skills.

Good written and spoken English.

Able to communicate confidently with clients, consultants, vendors and other engineering disciplines.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Contract Arrangement

This position is offered on a project-based contract basis, typically for 6 to 12 months, depending on project requirements.

Contract extension or renewal may be considered depending on project requirements and performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the electrical design and engineering activities for data centre and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review electrical SLD, schematics, equipment layouts, cable containment layouts and electrical installation drawings.
• Perform and/or review electrical engineering calculations including:
  • Load schedules and load calculations
  • Transformer and generator sizing
  • UPS and battery system sizing
  • Cable sizing and voltage drop calculations
  • Short-circuit calculations
  • Protection and circuit breaker sizing
  • Earthing and bonding requirements
  • Electrical equipment heat load calculations
• Review and coordinate electrical power distribution systems including MV switchgear, transformers, LV switchboards, UPS systems, batteries, busduct/busway, generators, ATS/STS and distribution boards.
• Review vendor technical submissions, equipment datasheets, drawings and technical compliance against project specifications.
• Prepare and respond to technical queries, RFIs, design comments and consultant/client comments.
• Participate in design review, technical coordination and client meetings.
• Identify potential design issues, interface conflicts and technical risks and recommend practical engineering solutions.
• Support equipment selection and technical evaluation of vendors and suppliers.
• Assist in preparing technical specifications, equipment schedules, design reports and other engineering documentation.
• Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable project requirements, codes and standards.
