Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to drive electrical design for Data Centre projects at our Kuala Lumpur office. You will lead regional teams, ensure design quality and alignment with plans, and coordinate with clients, PMs and other disciplines.

The role covers concept to commissioning, with focus on HV/LV systems, standards compliance, and bid/support activities. Requires proven Data Center experience and coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
• Extensive years of experience leading design of major electrical projects.
• At least 5 years in Data Center projects.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer- Data Centre

As we are growing and strengthening our Data Center business in the region, we are hiring a Data Centre Electrical Design Specialist to be based at our Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) office. This role will focus in providing technical capability in Electrical engineering in Data Center projects; working with the Data Center Lead, focusing on technical aspects and project management.

• Lead Electrical multi-disciplinary/functional team in the region to deliver Data Center and other technically challenging projects.
• Perform engineering tasks on the electrical services from Concept, Basis Of Design (BOD) 35% to 100% designs (including calculations, computer simulations, specifications etc.) for Electrical infrastructure in Data Center projects.
• Provide technical guidance to project and design engineers and resolve any technical problems faced during design and construction stages.
• Ensure that consistent quality standards and conformance with design plans / specifications are maintained across the project and coordination with other disciplines to ensure consistency across the project.
• Support in preparing proposals and bids when needed.
• Lead project/site meeting with Client, PM and Consultants from other disciplines (internal and external) through all stages of the project.
• Understand and follow plans, procedures, workflows, systems and tools to meet specific project requirements.
• Liaise and coordinate relevant technical issues with other disciplines.
• Build cultivate and build relationships with client generally as a Doer/Seller role.
• Support site supervision and plant commissioning activities when required

Here’s what you’ll need

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar
• Extensive years’ experience in leading the design of major electrical project or / and leading electrical position of a fast-track project, preferably in the high technology or industrial sector
• Technical knowledge and understanding of Engineering, Design and Construction for High Voltage and Low Voltage Electrical systems from Preliminary Design to Commissioning and Handover
• Familiarity with relevant Local Codes and international standards to ensure compliance.
• Significant years of relevant working experience, with at least 5 years in Data Center Projects.
