Job summary

HTL Group of Companies is seeking a hands-on Software Developer to build and enhance an enterprise Customer Portal. You will translate business requirements into scalable software, work with SAP integrations, and collaborate with internal and external teams throughout design, development, and support lifecycles.

You will be expected to learn quickly, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and deliver robust backend and frontend solutions in a fast-paced environment at WORQ Bandar Utama.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum five years of hands-on Node.js development experience.
• Experience with .NET-based projects and SAP integration is a plus.
• Strong communication in English and Mandarin with stakeholders in China.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain features for the enterprise Customer Portal.
• Enhance and expand the portal as business needs evolve.
• Write clean, secure, testable, and maintainable code.
• Build and maintain integrations with SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and other systems.
• Understand end-to-end processes and translate into technical solutions.
• Collaborate with sponsors, internal IT, and external vendors through lifecycle stages.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across app, DB, and integration layers.
• Support day-to-day portal operations, deployments, monitoring, and incident resolution.
• Maintain technical documentation including designs and deployment procedures.

Job description

We are building an enterprise Customer Portal to modernize how our customers interact with our business. The portal will support key functions such as product catalogue management, pricing, ordering, order-status tracking, quality claims, and reporting. It will also integrate with various internal and external systems, including SAP.

We are looking for a hands‑on Software Developer who is technically strong and able to quickly understand business processes. The successful candidate will translate business requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.

Prior experience in our business domain is not required. What matters is your ability to learn new domains and processes quickly, ask the right questions, identify opportunities for improvement, and turn that understanding into well‑engineered solutions.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, internal IT teams, and external technology vendors throughout the design, development, implementation, and support lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain features for the enterprise Customer Portal.
• Enhance and expand the portal as business requirements and operational needs evolve.
• Write clean, secure, testable, and maintainable code.
• Build and maintain integrations with SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and other enterprise systems.
• Understand end-to-end business processes and translate them into practical technical solutions.
• Identify and propose opportunities to simplify, automate, or improve existing business processes.
• Collaborate with business sponsors, internal IT teams, and external technology vendors throughout solution design, development, testing, and delivery.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the application, database, and integration layers.
• Support the day-to-day operation of the Customer Portal, including deployments, production monitoring, incident investigation, and resolution of user‑reported issues.
• Maintain appropriate technical documentation, including application designs, integration specifications, deployment procedures, and support guides.

Requirements — Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of hands‑on development experience with Node.js.
• Experience working on .NET‑based projects.
• Proficiency in both English and Mandarin, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders based in China.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to understand, map, and improve business processes.
• Ability to learn new business domains and operational processes quickly.
• Ability to gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into scalable and flexible technical designs.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise web applications across the software‑development lifecycle.
• Ability to work independently and manage day‑to‑day responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for the quality and reliability of delivered solutions.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, non‑technical business users, and external vendors.
• Ability to communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and technical decisions clearly.

Technical Skills — Node.js, React (Primary) & .NET (Secondary)

• Strong hands‑on experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Junior to mid‑level hands‑on experience with .NET (Integration with SAP)
• Experience developing secure, scalable, and maintainable enterprise backend applications.
• Good understanding of modular architecture, layered architecture, dependency injection, and separation of concerns.
• Experience developing role‑based and permission‑based access controls.
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, promises, event‑driven processing, and error handling in Node.js.
• Ability to design reusable modules and maintain clear boundaries between business domains.

Frontend Development

• Strong hands‑on experience with React and TypeScript.
• Good understanding of React components, hooks, routing, forms, context, and component lifecycle behaviour.
• Experience implementing authentication, protected routes, role‑based access, and permission‑based user interfaces.
• Ability to build reusable, responsive, accessible, and maintainable user‑interface components.
• Experience with form validation, error handling, loading states, and user feedback.
• Familiarity with a modern component library or design system.

Database and Data Management

• Strong working knowledge of Postgres.
• Ability to design and maintain database tables, relationships, indexes, views, and stored procedures where appropriate.
• Experience integrating Node.js applications with relational databases through an ORM or database‑access layer.

Testing and Software Engineering Practices

• Solid understanding of SOLID principles, clean‑code practices, separation of concerns, and common software‑design patterns.
• Experience with Git‑based version control, branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews.

Deployment and Operations

• Experience managing application configurations across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized application deployment.

Nice to Have

• Experience developing modular‑monolith or microservices‑based applications.
• Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ, or equivalent caching and messaging technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud services and infrastructure platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Experience containerizing applications using Docker.
• Hands‑on experience integrating with SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA through APIs, IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, OData services, middleware, or façade layers.
