Randstad Malaysia is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain end-to-end ETL pipelines, and to integrate data from REST APIs for a financial services client.

You will collaborate with software developers, monitor system health, plan capacity, and ensure data quality. Experience with Python, SQL, and Java preferred; vocational qualification accepted.

key responsibilities:

• Data Pipelines (ETL): Design, build, and maintain end-to-end ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to move data securely and efficiently across different systems.
• API Integrations: Connect and extract data from various internal and external platforms using REST APIs.
• Capacity Planning & Performance: Monitor the health of data systems, track usage trends, and assist with capacity planning to ensure our infrastructure scales with business growth.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Apply standard software engineering practices to data projects and work alongside software developers to align data architecture with broader system designs.
• Data Reliability: Troubleshoot data issues, optimize pipeline performance, and ensure overall data quality and availability.

requirements:

• Core Data Engineering: Proven experience building and managing end-to-end ETL pipelines in a professional environment.
• Programming: Strong coding skills in Python for data manipulation and automation.
• API Experience: Practical experience working with REST APIs to integrate systems and retrieve data.
• Software Development Knowledge: A basic understanding of software development lifecycles, version control, and best practices.
• Database Fundamentals: Solid understanding of SQL and experience working with various database technologies.

nice to haves:

• Java Exposure: Familiarity with object-oriented programming, specifically Java, is a strong plus.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Practical experience working with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and familiarity with typical cloud data tools (e.g., object storage, cloud data warehouses).
