Job summary

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Data Centre Design Mechanical Engineer to lead design ownership and governance for OCI data centres in APAC. You will drive mechanical design standards, review submissions, and ensure reliability and safety across projects.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years in data centre mechanical design, with strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and external partner engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years in mechanical engineering design for large-scale data centres or mission-critical infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems supporting high-availability environments.
• Experience working with colocation providers, developers, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong knowledge of safety practices, engineering procedures, and relevant industry standards.
• Proven ability to mentor others and raise technical capability across a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across APAC projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical services design and engineering workstreams for data centre projects and strategic design initiatives.
• Contribute to the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of OCI mechanical services design standards, specifications, policies, and procedures.
• Serve as a mechanical engineering SME for data centre infrastructure systems including cooling, ventilation, water systems, plant configuration, and resilience.
• Partner with colocation providers, developers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure proper design, installation, and commissioning.
• Independently analyse and resolve complex technical and cross-functional issues with recommendations for improvements.
• Drive deliverables across projects and coordinate with internal/external teams, tracking risks.
• Participate in design reviews, commissioning, site readiness assessments to meet design intent.
• Provide technical input to contracts, scopes of work, and change orders.
• Mentor junior engineers and support capability growth.
