Currie & Brown in Johor, Malaysia seeks an experienced Cost Lead to oversee cost management across major construction projects. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, contract administration, change management, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Cost Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10+ years in cost management, quantity surveying, or commercial management on construction projects.
• Experience managing large-scale projects (data centres, industrial facilities, infrastructure, semiconductor, pharma, or mission-critical developments).
• Strong understanding of cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and contract administration.
• Experience with FIDIC, PAM, NEC, or other standard forms of contract.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and cost management systems.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost management activities from pre-construction to project completion.
• Develop and maintain budgets, cost plans, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Monitor expenditures, identify cost risks and variances.
• Provide accurate cost reporting to stakeholders and senior management.
• Establish cost control procedures and ensure compliance.
• Support procurement activities, tender evaluations, and contractor selection.
• Review contracts and administer to ensure commercial compliance.
• Assess claims, progress payments, variations, and final accounts.
• Manage change control processes and assess commercial impact of changes.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, earned value, and financial forecasts.
• Monitor commitments, accruals, and project cash flow.
• Provide recommendations to improve cost performance and profitability.
• Ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy.
