Job summary

Gradiant is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning activities for Industrial (ETP) and Municipal Effluent Treatment Plants and UPW/Desalination projects. You will manage pre-commissioning, wet and performance testing, and client handover, ensuring safety and quality.

Responsibilities include reviewing process documents, coordinating with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control teams, and delivering comprehensive reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical/Environmental/Mechanical/Biochemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on field experience in commissioning water and wastewater systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% (local and overseas).

Responsibilities

• Lead all stages of commissioning for Industrial (ETP) and Municipal Effluent Treatment Plants (STP) and UPW/Desalination projects.
• Review P&IDs, PFDs, Mass Balances and related documents with cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting and post-commissioning follow-up.
• Prepare commissioning plans, checklists, procedures and M&Os; manage punch lists and progress reports.

Role Overview

The Senior Commissioning Engineer is responsible for executing and leading commissioning activities for Industrial (ETP) and Municipal Effluent Treatment Plants (STP) and Water Treatment Plants (UPW/Desalination). The role covers the full commissioning lifecycle—from pre-commissioning to handover—ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning Activities Execute and lead all stages of commissioning Pre-Commissioning Wet Commissioning Process Commissioning Performance Testing Documentation and Client Handover Post-Commissioning Support Trouble Shooting
• Engineering & Documentation Review P&IDs, PFDs, Mass Balances, Design Basis Reports, Control Philosophy, and Cause & Effect matrices Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control teams to ensure installations meet design intent Prepare and review Commissioning Plans, Checklists, Procedures, Performance Test Procedures and Reports, SOPs, and O&M Manuals Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and manage commissioning punch lists
• Technical Support & Troubleshooting Conduct data analysis to diagnose equipment and process issues Identify defects in design, installation, and functionality of equipment, piping, instruments, and controls Provide technical feedback and ensure closure of identified issues Support Site Acceptance Tests and Performance Testing with client endorsement
• Project Support Collaborate with project teams to ensure smooth project execution and closure

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biochemical Engineering. Other qualifications may be considered based on relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on field experience in commissioning of water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Proven experience in execution of overseas projects is highly preferred.
• Ability to travel to project sites locally and globally (50% travel) when required
• Experienced in the following technology : Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane loading, commissioning, operation, and troubleshooting Anti-scalant selection and dechlorination Cleaning and sanitization (CIP/SIP) LSI, SDI analysis, and membrane profiling Troubleshooting & Training
• Other Treatment Processes Ultrafiltration (UF) Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) MBR / MBBR Clarifiers Ammonia Strippers Filter Press and Centrifuge Crystallizers and Evaporators
• Equipment Commissioning Process pumps and chemical dosing pumps Compressors, blowers, and mixers Heat exchangers Polymer preparation and dosing systems
• Chemical & Process Operations Coagulation and flocculation principles
