Job summary

Payment Network Malaysia is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and own critical backend services that underpin participant onboarding at national scale. You will build scalable, secure RESTful APIs with Java/Spring Boot, and drive reliability, performance, and security.

You will mentor junior engineers, set code review standards, and champion CI/CD practices while delivering end-to-end architecture from design to production with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Proven end-to-end ownership: design, troubleshooting, testing
• Experience building RESTful APIs and scalable backend systems
• Strong SQL and relational DB knowledge
• Experience mentoring engineers in Agile environments

Responsibilities

• Take a problem statement and independently research, propose, and defend a technical solution
• Design and lead architecture for scalable, high-performance backend systems
• Own end-to-end delivery from design to post-release stability
• Flag architectural or scalability risks early
• Develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java, Golang, or Python
• Design and optimize database schemas for performance
• Write unit and integration tests as part of delivery
• Troubleshoot production incidents and perform root-cause analysis
• Set and enforce code review standards and security checks
• Mentor juniors with a teaching mindset
