Watlow, a world-class thermal technology leader, seeks a Senior Automation Engineer in Kulim, Malaysia to lead design, development and deployment of automation for manufacturing operations. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation or related field.
• Typically 7+ years of automation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience automating standalone machines and multi-station assembly lines.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English with technical communication.
• Proficient in 3D modeling software: SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, NX or equivalent.
• Strong problem solving, root cause analysis and data-driven decision making.
• Strong project management skills to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Good understanding of mechanical design, tooling, fixtures, pneumatics, sensors, actuators and motion systems.
• Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, robotics, machine vision, electrical controls and industrial networks.
• Experience with automation suppliers, machine builders and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation projects from concept through design, build, debug, qualification and production release.
• Develop automation solutions for standalone machines, work cells and integrated lines.
• Collaborate with production, process engineering, quality and maintenance to define automation requirements.
• Create or review mechanical concepts, layouts and equipment designs using 3D modeling tools.
• Support supplier selection, FAT/SAT and handover activities.
• Troubleshoot automation equipment including mechanical, electrical, sensors and PLCs.
• Drive root cause analysis to reduce downtime and improve cycle time and quality.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians in design, troubleshooting and project execution.
