Job summary

Coway (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Product Engineer to drive technical design, feasibility, and quality for our mattress portfolio. You will translate market needs into specs, test materials, and support launches with strong supplier collaboration.

The role requires hands-on prototyping, material testing, and cross-functional coordination to ensure quality and cost targets are met throughout development cycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science, or related technical discipline.
• 3+ years in technical product development, quality engineering, or manufacturing in mattress/bedding/soft-goods industries.
• Hands-on experience leading physical prototyping, component evaluation, and material testing from concept to launch.
• Proven track record of managing supplier relationships with manufacturers, OEMs/ODMs, and development partners.
• Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management to bridge commercial goals with factory capabilities.
• Root-cause defect analysis and analytical problem-solving for quality improvement.
• Value engineering and cost optimization while maintaining comfort and durability.

Job description

This role exists to support Coway Malaysia in building a strong, competitive, and future-ready mattress product portfolio. The Product Engineer will drive technical design, product feasibility, and quality assurance by leveraging expertise in material testing, structural prototyping, and supplier collaboration. The objective is to support the successful execution of new mattress launches, quality control, and continuous product improvements to meet the company's growth and performance targets.

Job Descriptions:

Technical Specification & Architecture Design

• Translate commercial roadmaps and market needs into detailed technical spec sheets, structural layer stackups, and blueprints to ensure concepts are commercially and technically viable within the price range.

Material Sourcing & Prototyping Evaluation

• Source, test, and evaluate raw materials (e.g., foam densities, coil systems, technical fabrics) for physical prototypes development that meet target comfort, ergonomic support and product quality.

Pre-Mass Production Audit & Launch Support

• Support the R&D team in conducting pre-mass production audits to enforce strict quality control standards before commercial product launch.
• Build strong technical working relationships with suppliers and manufacturer to resolve manufacturing bottlenecks, ensure specification compliance, and streamline execution across development cycles.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science, or a related technical discipline, with in-depth knowledge of mattress raw materials (foam formulations, coil systems, technical fabrics) and ergonomic design principles.
• 3+ years of technical product development, quality engineering, or manufacturing experience within the mattress, bedding, furniture, or soft-goods industries.
• Hands-on experience leading physical prototyping, component evaluation, and material testing from concept stage to launch.
• Proven track record of managing supplier relationships and collaborating directly with manufacturers, OEMs/ODMs, and development partners.
• Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills to bridge commercial goals with technical factory capabilities.
• Root-cause defect analysis and analytical problem-solving skills for sample rectification and quality improvement.
• Value engineering and cost optimization capabilities to refine material stackups without compromising comfort or durability.
