Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Security Engineer to lead the detailed design and delivery of mission-critical data centre security systems. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to implement Access Control, CCTV, IDS, Intercom, and PSIM, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards.

The role requires a relevant engineering degree and 5+ years of securing high-security facilities, with proficiency in BIM/Revit and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Security Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years experience in electronic security systems engineering with detailed design projects.
• Proven experience delivering security system designs for data centres, mission-critical facilities, or high-security environments.
• Familiarity with security design software, BIM/Revit, and AutoCAD is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design of electronic security systems for data centre projects, including ACS, CCTV, IDS, Intercom, perimeter protection and PSIM.
• Develop design calculations, system architecture, specifications, layouts, schematics and construction documents.
• Coordinate security designs with electrical, ICT, mechanical, structural and architectural disciplines.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards, client security requirements and data centre needs.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings and as-built records.

Your impact

We are seeking a Security Engineer to play a key role in the detailed design and delivery of mission-critical data centre projects. This position is focused on the engineering, design, coordination, and implementation of integrated electronic security systems across complex data centre developments, ensuring solutions meet client, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Accountabilities

• Lead the detailed design of electronic security systems for data centre projects, including
  • Access Control Systems (ACS)
  • CCTV / Video Surveillance Systems
  • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
  • Intercom Systems
  • Perimeter Protection Systems
  • Security Management Platforms (PSIM)
• Develop design calculations, system architecture, specifications, layouts, schematics, and construction documentation.
• Coordinate security designs with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, ICT, mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client security requirements, and data centre operational needs.
• Support technical reviews, design workshops, tender documentation, and vendor evaluations.
• Provide engineering support through design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Review contractor submissions, technical documentation, shop drawings, and as-built records.

Here's what you'll need

• With a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Security Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ relevant years of experience in electronic security systems engineering, with demonstrated involvement in detailed design projects.
• Proven experience delivering security system designs for data centres, mission-critical facilities, hyperscale campuses, or other high-security environments.
• Strong understanding of integrated security technologies, networked security systems, and security infrastructure design.
• Experience producing detailed design packages and coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines.
• Familiarity with security design software, BIM/Revit, and AutoCAD is advantageous.
• Professional engineering registration or working towards accreditation is advantageous.
