Job summary

Citi in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Officer, Securities & Derivatives Intermediate Analyst to manage end-to-end account opening with Transfer Agents and fund managers. You will review onboarding requirements, prepare application forms, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure compliant, timely account establishment.

The role requires strong knowledge of funds operations, transfer agency processes and documentation control, with exposure to UAT and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience within investment funds, fund distribution, custody, transfer agency or securities operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end account-opening process with Transfer Agents, Fund Management Companies and other relevant counterparties.
• Review onboarding requirements and determine documentation for fund-account establishment.
• Prepare, validate and submit Transfer Agent application forms and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate account-opening activities with internal teams.
• Liaise with Transfer Agents and Fund Management Companies to resolve documentation gaps and onboarding issues.
• Review fund prospectuses to understand dealing, settlement, registration and account-opening requirements.
• Validate key static-data elements including account details and settlement information.
• Ensure new accounts are reflected in internal systems and operational before trading.
• Support account novations, migrations, changes of nominee or registration details.
• Monitor outstanding account-opening requests and provide progress updates.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues during account-establishment.
• Maintain records of account-opening documentation and approvals.
• Perform risk and control checks before implementing non-standard structures.
• Participate in client migrations, new business onboarding, process improvements and UAT.
• Identify opportunities to standardize and automate the account-opening process.

In this role, you’re expected to:

• Manage the end-to-end account-opening process with Transfer Agents, Fund Management Companies and other relevant counterparties.
• Review client onboarding requirements and determine the appropriate documentation required for fund-account establishment.
• Prepare, validate and submit Transfer Agent application forms and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate account-opening activities with internal Client Service, Operations, Product, Implementation and Data teams.
• Liaise directly with Transfer Agents and Fund Management Companies to resolve documentation gaps, rejected applications and outstanding onboarding requirements.
• Review fund prospectuses and supporting documentation to understand applicable dealing, settlement, registration and account-opening requirements.
• Validate key static-data elements including account details, dealing instructions, payment templates, settlement information and relevant market requirements.
• Ensure newly established accounts are accurately reflected in internal systems and are operationally ready before trading commences.
• Support account novations, account migrations, changes of nominee or registration details, and other account-maintenance activities.
• Monitor outstanding account-opening requests and provide timely progress updates to internal stakeholders and clients.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues arising during the account-establishment process.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of account-opening documentation and approvals in line with internal governance requirements.
• Perform appropriate risk and control checks before implementing non-standard account structures or processes.
• Participate in client migrations, new business onboarding, process enhancements and UAT activities.
• Identify opportunities to standardize, simplify and automate the account-opening process.
• Maintain strong working relationships with Transfer Agents, Fund Managers, Client Service and other internal stakeholders.
