Job summary

AMD in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Section Manager / Staff Finance Analyst to partner with Business Unit leadership and manage accounting activities for the unit, including program and product accounting, contract review, audits, SOX, close, and reporting. The role requires strong analytical skills, teamwork, and the ability to influence financial decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Influence and provide guidance on the accounting treatment of business unit contracts/transactions to ensure the appropriate application.
• Support month-end close activities, including review of journal entries and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks, SOX requirements, applicable regulations, and company policies.
• Prepare, analyze, and deliver financial reporting packages for corporate and executive leadership, including management reporting, ad hoc analysis, and actionable business insights.
• Partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business priorities, provide strategic financial guidance, and support informed decision-making.
• Identify, challenge, and enhance existing processes, controls, and ways of working to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness to evolving business needs.
• Drive process automation and digital transformation initiatives by leveraging technology, data analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and business insights.

THE ROLE:

The Section Manager / Staff Finance Analyst,Finance is a critical role in the success of the business. This role will partner with Business Unit leadership and other members of the Finance team to manage the accounting activities for the business unit. This includes owning all aspects of program and product accounting, contract review, internal/external audit engagement, SOX compliance, month-end close and financial reporting.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably with accounting or professional certifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, MIA, etc is preferred.
