Job summary

AMD in Penang, Malaysia, seeks a skilled software engineer to develop product security within Global Operations & Supply Chain. You will analyze system performance, improve quality of generated code, and collaborate with developers and partners across regions.

The role requires strong programming expertise (Java/C++/Python) and experience with security, cryptography, and enterprise applications. You will work in a fast-paced, global team environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive software development experience in Java, .Net, C++, Python, SQL, UNIX/Linux.
• Web & mobile application development, Tomcat, JBoss or WebSphere.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture systems and concepts, CPU architecture, memory hierarchy and caches.
• Knowledge of hardware architecture with security/virtualization extensions.
• Understanding data, client/server and network security, including encryption technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop code, unit test, debug, and implement requests for programs, small projects, and system changes with a focus on product security.
• Assist in development and documentation of system architecture and designs; consult on encryption management solutions.
• Analyze and improve performance of infrastructure and applications.
• Collaborate with ecosystem partners to improve security across the compute base from CPU to GPU.
• Engage with diverse stakeholders and support global business users to meet SLAs.

The Role

As a key member of our Business Enterprise Applications team with focus within our IT Global Operations & Supply Chain team, you will use your expert software engineering skills to develop product security. When you join our passionate and engaged team, you will notice right away we are committed to success. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing the performance of systems that impact AMD product life cycle and modifying to improve the quality of the generated code.

The Person

Your technical abilities will directly impact AMD’s success with tier-one partners. You will work collaboratively with developers and global operations teams inside AMD. This position requires an outstanding background of software development, debugging skills, communication skills, ability to prototype, testing and to clearly articulate possible technical challenges associated with the implementation. Must be self-motivated, able to work well within a team and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop code, unit test, debug, and implement requests for programs, small projects, and system changes in a custom application environment with a focus on product security.


• Assist in the development and documentation of system architecture, designs, and consult on encryption management solutions.


• Analyze and improve performance of the infrastructure and applications.


• Works with ecosystem partners to help improve the security of the entire compute base from CPU to GPU


• Very good communicator, able to engage and effectively respond to diverse stakeholders.


• Support global business users to ensure enterprise applications SLAs are met.


• Work both independently and as part of a strong, collaborative, and global team


• Self-starter who requires minimal supervision


• Able to proactively support team culture that fosters knowledge sharing, excellence, and collaboration.


• Since the position entails working with confidential information, a high level of integrity is required.

Preferred Experience

• Extensive software development experience in Java, .Net, C++, Python, SQL, UNIX/Linux.


• Web & mobile application development, Tomcat, JBoss or WebSphere.


• Strong understanding of computer architecture systems and concepts, including CPU architecture, fundaments of the system memory hierarchy and caches, and underlying system hardware and firmware.


• Knowledge of existing hardware architecture(s) (prefer x86 and/or ARM) including associated security and/or virtualization extensions.


• Must possess an understanding of all aspects of data, client/server and network security, including such areas as firewall administration, encryption technologies and network protocols.


• Experience with firmware, APIs, applications, OSes and their interactions within Windows, Linux, gaming, compute, and virtualization environments.


• Eagerness and ability to quickly learn new concepts.


• Worked in cross-site and matrix environments.


• Database development, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server.


• Possess fundamental knowledge of security principles and properties, including confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, authorization, and auditing.


• Understand industrial security standards: TCG, DMTF, OCP NIST, FIPS, Common Criteria, etc.


• Working knowledge of cryptography and encryption key management an asset.


• Relevant industry experience is highly beneficial.

Academic Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology Systems Security or related field strongly preferred.
