Job summary

AMD is seeking a hands-on engineer in Penang, Malaysia who designs and maintains internal web apps with Vue/Python, while tuning Kubernetes deployments and Jenkins pipelines. You will provision Azure resources, manage databases, and integrate AI tooling to automate engineering tasks.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Jenkins, including release automation and quality gates.
• Containerize services with Docker and deploy on Kubernetes; manage Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Design and administer data stores like PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including performance tuning and backups.
• Integrate AI tooling (Claude Code, MCP servers) to reduce manual toil and improve workflows.
• Ensure observability with logging, metrics, and alerting; resolve issues end-to-end from browser to cloud.

The Person

A hands-on engineer who is equally comfortable writing a Vue front end, tuning a Kubernetes deployment, and debugging a failing Jenkins stage. You think in terms of systems and automation rather than one-off fixes, and you care about the developer experience of the people using what you build.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal web applications and dashboards using Python back ends and Vue, HTML, and CSS front ends, exposing data through well-designed REST APIs
• Own CI/CD across the team: build, test, and deployment pipelines in GitHub Actions and Jenkins, including release automation, artifact management, and quality gates
• Containerize services with Docker and deploy, scale, and operate them on Kubernetes
• Provision and manage cloud and lab infrastructure on Azure, including VM fleets, networking, storage, and cost optimization, using infrastructure-as-code practices
• Design and administer data stores — PostgreSQL for relational workloads and MongoDB for document and telemetry data — including schema design, performance tuning, backup, and migration
• Integrate agentic AI tooling into engineering workflows: build and maintain Claude Code skills, MCP servers, and automation agents that reduce manual toil in triage, reporting, and routine engineering tasks
• Instrument systems for observability — logging, metrics, alerting — and drive down mean time to detection and recovery
• Debug and root-cause issues across the full stack, from browser to container to host to cloud
• Partner with validation, firmware, and software teams to understand their pain points and turn them into durable platform capabilities

Preferred Experience

• Strong Python development skills, including REST API design with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django
• Front-end development experience with Vue, HTML, and CSS; able to ship a usable internal tool end to end without waiting on a dedicated UI team
• Deep hands-on experience with CI/CD — GitHub Actions and Jenkins in particular, including pipeline-as-code, self-hosted runners, and agent management
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes: writing manifests and Helm charts, managing deployments, and troubleshooting cluster and workload issues
• Practical Azure experience, especially VM provisioning and lifecycle management, identity, networking, and cost control
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB in production, including query optimization and operational maintenance
• Experience applying AI to increase execution productivity — Claude Code, agentic skills, and MCP server development are strongly preferred; comfort designing prompts, skills, and tool integrations that other engineers can rely on
• Solid Linux administration and shell scripting; Windows familiarity is a plus
• Git fluency and strong code review habits; you treat infrastructure and tooling code with the same rigor as product code
• Security-conscious approach to secrets management, access control, and supply chain
• Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance
• Forward thinker that drives improvement to development process, code architecture, and fosters a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills
• Self-organizing with the ability to multitask based on priorities

Academic Credentials
