AVEVA Kuala Lumpur invites you to join its AI & Digital Delivery hub as a Search Engineer. You will design and optimize enterprise search to help users discover products, documentation, partner resources, and knowledge across our digital ecosystem.

You’ll work with Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, and OpenSearch, explore semantic and vector search, embeddings, and RAG, and drive performance improvements for multilingual enterprise workloads.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in search engineering.
• Hands-on with Apache Solr, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Apache Lucene.
• Experience with NLP basics: tokenization, stemming, entity recognition.
• Backend programming in C#, Python, or Java.
• Familiarity with multilingual search solutions.

Join AVEVA’s newly established AI & Digital Delivery hub in Kuala Lumpur and help shape the next generation of customer and partner digital platforms. As a Search Engineer, you’ll design and optimize enterprise search solutions that make it faster and easier to discover products, technical documentation, partner resources, and knowledge across our digital ecosystem.

You’ll work with technologies such as Elasticsearch, Apache Solr, Apache Lucene, and OpenSearch, while exploring opportunities in semantic search, vector search, and AI-powered information retrieval. This is an opportunity to solve complex search challenges, improve real-world user experiences, and contribute to modern, AI-enabled enterprise solutions.

What you’ll do

Build and optimize search solutions: Design, implement, and scale search architectures across customer and partner platforms.

Improve search relevance: Fine-tune ranking, scoring, boosting, synonyms, stemming, and query analysis to deliver more accurate results.

Develop search capabilities: Build search APIs, indexing pipelines, faceted search, autocomplete, and type-ahead features.

Explore AI-powered search: Contribute to semantic search, vector search, embeddings, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities.

Drive continuous improvement: Monitor search performance, analyze user behaviour, and refine search quality, relevance, and response times.

Support global platforms: Optimize search solutions for enterprise workloads and multilingual content across markets.

What you’ll bring

5–8 years of experience in search engineering, information retrieval, or enterprise search, with hands-on delivery of production search solutions.

Strong practical experience with one or more of Apache Solr, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Apache Lucene, including indexing, query tuning, and search performance optimization.

Experience with search relevance, ranking and scoring, document ingestion pipelines, and search architecture.

Understanding of NLP fundamentals, such as tokenization, stemming, and entity recognition.

Proficiency in at least one backend programming language, such as C#, Python, or Java.

Skills that will set you apart

Experience with Azure AI Search, AWS OpenSearch, Alibaba OpenSearch, Coveo, Algolia, or Typesense.

Exposure to vector search, semantic search, embeddings, RAG, knowledge graphs, or Learning to Rank (LTR).

Familiarity with search analytics, full-text and faceted search, and search API development.

Experience with CJK tokenisation, Kafka, or multilingual search solutions.
