Job summary

Mattel Development & Tooling Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks a driven 3D modeler to support digital modeling for toy development. You will create 3D sculpts with Freeform/ZBrush, prepare geometry for molds, and ensure digital models comply with toy safety requirements.

Ideal candidates are undergraduates in design fields with a strong 3D portfolio and knowledge of Maya, ZBrush, Blender, or Creo. Collaboration with design and engineering teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student in Fine Art/Industrial Design/Digital Animation/Transportation Design/3D modelling.
• 3–5 years’ experience in 3D Modelling for vehicle development is a plus.
• Creative portfolio with focus on toy/car design.
• Basic familiarity with Maya, ZBrush, Blender or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Support digital modeling for toy development using Freeform/Zbrush and convert files to iges/stl.
• Assist final part geometry creation for mold manufacture and CNC tooling.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the digital modeling program.

Mattel Development & Tooling Sdn Bhd is a one stop center providing service capabilities in Product Development, Digital Model Making, Digital Mold DesignManufacturing Injection Die-Cast Molds for MMSB , MIDC and MBK located in Perai, Penang.

1. Support digital modeling for toy development.

• Use Freeform/Zbrush to create 3D sculpts based on the control drawing or reference photos.
• Break up the parts based on the production requirements.
• Design and complete the inner structural design.
• Digital check based on toy safety testing requirements.
• Work close with the design and development team to support 3D modeling for toy development.
• Utilize the standard part geometry for digital modeling development.
• Convert the files to iges and stl files for 3D printing.
• Upload the Cly files to windchill.

2. Support the final part geometry creation for mold manufacture.

• Work closely with design and development teams and plant and tooling vendors to complete the final part geometry based on the mold manufacturing and product decoration and assembly requirement.
• Convert the mesh to Creo geometry for final parts geometries creation for CNC tools.
• Support the DIJ nest design based on the decoration requirement.

3. Continuous improvement of the digital modeling program.

• Research, evaluate and assist in the implementation of new technologies, innovations and/or methods as it applies to digital modeling processes.

• Undergraduate students in Fine Art/Industrial Design/Digital Animation/Transportation Design/3D modeling or similar
• 3-5 years’ experience in 3D Modelling for vehicle development will be an added advantage
• Creative Ability: Demonstrated creative skills with a supporting 3D portfolio in Car Design

• Basic 3D Software Knowledge: Familiarity with 3D modeling software such as Maya, ZBrush, Blender, or similar tools
• Understanding of Design Principles: Basic knowledge of design and sculpting principles, including proportion, line, and surface
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with design, sculpting, and engineering teams
• Communication Skills: Good communication in English & Mandarin will be an added advantage
