The Sea Sports Academy at Stonyhurst International School Penang delivers a progressive and engaging curriculum from beginner to advanced levels, with sailing at the core of the programme, complemented by Open Skiff dinghies, stand‑up paddleboards (SUPs), and kayaks.
The role requires a coach with strong hands‑on sailing coaching experience and a genuine commitment to developing students' technical skills, confidence, water awareness, and enjoyment of the sport. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high‑quality coaching while maintaining the highest standards of student safety, performance, and engagement.
The coach will work closely with the Sea Sports Academy team to plan and deliver structured training programmes appropriate to students' abilities and progression levels, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and challenging learning environment.
Deliver high-quality sea sports lessons across all levels, from beginner to advanced.
Support training sessions, races and camps.
Assist with assessments of student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
Ensure safety and quality standards are consistently met during all coaching activities.
Work under the guidance of the Head Coach / Programme Lead.
Participate in regular coach briefings and debriefings to maintain consistency in methodology.
Contribute to a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the team.
Follow the academy's Safety Operations Manual.
Assist with maintenance of equipment, including sailboats, kayaks, coach boats, and safety gear.
Monitor adherence to safety protocols during all academy activities.
Track student attendance, progression, and assessment results as assigned.
Undertake any other ad hoc tasks or assignments as assigned by management.
Proven sailing coaching or instructing experience (dinghy sailing essential; Open Skiff or similar small‑boat experience strongly preferred)
Recognised sailing coaching qualification preferred
Strong water safety awareness and rescue/safety boat competency
