Sunway International School (Johor) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Swimming Teacher / Instructor to join our vibrant academic team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality swimming and physical education lessons, fostering students' physical development, water safety skills, and overall well-being within an internationally recognised curriculum. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Head of Department and Academic Leadership Team to implement engaging instructional programmes aligned with the school’s standards and International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy.
Job Description:
Plan, prepare, and deliver swimming and physical education lessons that promote water safety, skill development, and student engagement
Develop appropriate teaching materials and adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
Ensure a safe learning environment by adhering to all health, safety, and safeguarding requirements
Assess and monitor student progress, ensuring continuous growth and achievement appropriate to age and ability
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues on student development and progress
Support co-curricular activities, including coaching, school events, and student engagement initiatives
Perform administrative duties such as attendance tracking, assessment marking, and supervision during activities or examinations
Participate in professional development and contribute to the school’s academic and extracurricular programmes
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in coaching Swimming, teaching Health, and Physical Education at the IB Middle Years and Primary Years Programme levels (PYP and MYP)
Degree or Certification related to Education and Physical Education, with a focus on Swimming
Valid swimming coaching, lifeguard, CPR, or first aid certification is an advantage
Strong understanding of water safety practices, safeguarding, and risk management in aquatic environments
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and a collaborative approach
