Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Safety & Security Manager to oversee the safety, security and emergency response for guests, employees and hotel assets. You will develop, implement and monitor policies and SOPs to remain compliant and ensure a safe environment.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in a similar hospitality role, strong communication, leadership and risk assessment skills, and experience with security systems. This is a full-time on-site position in Kuantan, Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar safety and security management role within hospitality.
• Thorough understanding of health, safety and security legislation and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
• Proven track record of leading and motivating security personnel.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor safety, security and emergency SOPs for guests, staff and assets.
• Lead security team, schedule staff, manage performance and supervise systems.
• Conduct risk assessments, inspections, audits and incident investigations with corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety and security laws, coordinate drills.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and reports, liaise with authorities and contractors.

The Safety & Security Manager shall be responsible in assisting in all matters pertaining to the providing, administering and maintaining of adequate and ensuring effective safety and security of guests, employees, and the hotel assets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor the hotel's safety, security, and emergency response policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure a safe environment for guests, employees, and hotel assets.
• Lead and supervise the Safety & Security team, including staff scheduling, training, performance management, and the effective operation of security systems, access controls, and surveillance equipment.
• Conduct routine risk assessments, safety inspections, security audits, and incident investigations, implementing corrective and preventive actions where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA 1994, the Fire Services Act, and all applicable health, safety, fire, and security regulations, while coordinating emergency drills and safety awareness programmes.
• Prepare departmental budgets, forecasts, and reports, and liaise with local authorities, emergency services, contractors, and internal departments to support safe and secure hotel operations.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar safety and security management role within the hospitality industry
• Thorough understanding of relevant health, safety, and security legislation and industry best practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach
• Proven track record of leading and motivating a team of security personnel
• Proficient in the use of relevant safety and security management software and technologies
