Job summary

Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, seeks a skilled Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a safe working environment across all hotel operations. You will oversee life safety systems and training, safeguarding guests and colleagues while upholding the Shangri-La standard.

Requirements include a technical certificate/diploma in electrical/building services, at least two years in a relevant setting, proven safety competency, and fluency in

• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Building Services or related field.
• Minimum 2 years in an industrial environment, fire engineering, firefighting, or hotel engineering/facilities management.
• Pass Shangri-La Group Engineering assessment.
• FLSM certification: suitable license/certification or demonstrated competence.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, test and certify Life Safety Equipment and Systems; maintain logs/records.
• Conduct Life Safety Training for hotel staff at appropriate levels.
• Supervise fire/smoke compartments and escape routes.
• Ensure compliance with Shangri-La Group Safety & Loss Manual; report deviations and recommend corrective actions.

We’re looking for a skilled Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives, ensure compliance, and promote a safe working environment across all operations.

Job Summary

• Responsible for the operation, maintenance, testing, and certification of Life Safety Equipment and Systems, including proper maintenance of logbooks and records.
• Conduct Life Safety Training for all hotel employees at the appropriate level.
• Supervise hotel fire and smoke compartments, including all designated escape routes and emergency exits.
• Monitor hotel compliance with the requirements of the Shangri-La Group Safety & Loss Manual, report any deviations, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

Requirement

• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of working experience in an industrial environment (e.g., electrical services), fire engineering, firefighting, or a hotel engineering division. Experience in facilities management is preferred.
• Pass the assessment conducted by Shangri-La Group Engineering.
• To pass FLSM certification assessment:
• Registered, licensed, or certified by a state or local authority to perform fire safety engineering duties; or
• Certified by a nationally recognized certification organization; or
• Demonstrated competency through relevant training and practical experience.
• Fluent in both oral and written English and the local language.
• Tactful, goal-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated.
