Job summary

FieldCore is seeking a Steam/Gas Mechanic to safely install, maintain and repair heavy rotating machinery used in power generation. You will work with Supervisors, EHS, and Operations to ensure reliability and safety.

The role requires mechanical and welding skills, blueprint reading, and the ability to travel and work overtime. A strong focus on quality and teamwork is essential to support energy infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment.
• Valid Driver’s License and English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle, assemble, move and align machinery using hoists, cranes, and hand tools.
• Read blueprints and technical docs to determine procedures.
• Ship/receive major parts and manage inventory and tool control.
• Perform inspections with micrometers, calipers, and torque wrenches.
• Machining and welding to create parts for equipment and training.
• Install machinery per layouts and drawings in industrial sites.
• Maintain chemical inventories and PPE stock; travel as required.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Steam/Gas Mechanic is to safely accomplish the installation, maintenance and repair of the heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications. Turbine Mechanics work closely with Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve these goals. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Dismantle, assemble, move and align, machinery and equipment using the following: hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, micrometers, rules, squares, plumb bobs, dial indicators and/or laser alignment equipment
• Read blueprints, schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures
• Responsible for shipping and receiving all major pieces for T&DC, plus all shipping, receiving, inventory, and control of tools, equipment and supplies
• Perform material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules, calipers, protractors, and torque wrenches
• Perform machining and welding operations for making various parts for lab and shop training equipment
• Determine equipment specifications and prepare parts lists for purchasing, consisting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic devices as needed to complete assigned projects
• Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment and supplies and perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs as needed
• Read blueprints, schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures
• Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and other drawings in industrial establishments
• Prepare requests for materials, tools, and consumables and prepare delivery order letters for outgoing items from the plant site
• Prepare quarterly inventory reports covering tools, consumables, materials, and stationeries, and maintain minimum stock levels
• Maintain all chemical inventories safely, including handling, storage, disposal, and recording
• Maintain inventories of lifting accessories, scaffolding material, electrical and power tools, hand tools, and machinery, including periodical inspection, storage, disposal, and recording
• Maintain PPE inventories including availability tracking, stock storage, inspection, and maintenance
• Notify the engineer when transported or received materials are ready for use
• Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
• Travel may be required

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) years’ experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines
• Valid Driver’s License
• English proficiency required

Desired Characteristics:

• Associate’s degree in Technical Field or Gas Turbine Systems preferred
• Ability to disassemble and reassemble complex rotating equipment – Bolting, Hydraulic Bolting, Flange Management, Small Bore Piping, Basic Rigging/Lifting, O/H Crane Operator
• Proficient in the following: mechanical/technical skills, oral communications skills, Critical Thinking
• Manage time-sensitive tasks and maintain a schedule within operationally challenging environments
• Must work well both independently and in a team environment.
