Job summary

myNEWS HOLDINGS BERHAD is seeking a skilled Project Planning & Execution lead to manage end-to-end store fit-out projects across Malaysia, including new openings, refurbishments and relocations. You will oversee timelines, budgets and handovers to operations.

Responsibilities include cost control, tender evaluation, contractor management, and ensuring M&E coordination, safety compliance, and brand standardisation across outlets. Strong analytical and multi-project management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years experience in retail fit-out or commercial construction.
• Experience managing multi-outlet rollouts preferred (e.g., convenience chains)
• Strong background in cost control, tendering, and contractor negotiation.
• Strong understanding of BQ, cost estimation, and contract management.
• Knowledge of local authority submission process.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel (cost tracking & reporting).
• Good knowledge of M&E coordination for retail environment.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented with high financial discipline.
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end store fit-out projects (new openings, refurbishments, relocations).
• Develop project timelines, cost plans, and execution schedules.
• Coordinate with design, operations, real estate, and external consultants.
• Ensure timely store handover for operations commencement.
• Prepare and review project CAPEX budgets.
• Conduct cost benchmarking for materials, contractors, and suppliers.
• Evaluate and negotiate quotations to achieve best value.
• Monitor cost variation orders (VO) and prevent unnecessary escalation.
• Maintain cost tracking reports for management review.
• Source, evaluate, and appoint contractors and suppliers.
• Ensure competitive tender process and documentation compliance.
• Monitor contractor performance and workmanship quality.
• Ensure contractors adhere to safety and site regulations.
• Ensure drawings comply with local authority requirements and mall management guidelines.
• Oversee M&E coordination (electrical load, lighting, air-conditioning, refrigeration, POS power points).
• Ensure compliance with fire safety, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage defect rectification before and after handover.
• Develop standardized BQ templates and cost benchmarks.
• Create fit-out specifications to maintain brand consistency across outlets.
• Review material selection for durability and cost efficiency.
• Propose value engineering solutions without compromising quality.
