Job summary

Wakaba Manufacturing Sdn Bhd is seeking a detail-oriented R&D Associate to support biscuit product development from concept through commercialization, ensuring timely launches with cross-functional teams.

The role involves sourcing materials, upholding quality standards, and conducting product testing plus basic data analysis within a food safety and regulatory framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a food-related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience in R&D or food manufacturing.
• Basic knowledge of product development, biscuit production, baking technology, and raw materials.
• Understanding of food regulations and quality requirements.
• Interest in the food and biscuit industry with a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Support new biscuit product development from concept, trials, and testing to commercialization.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure new products are developed and launched on time.
• Source suitable raw materials and ingredients with Procurement.
• Set and maintain quality standards for ingredients and products.
• Conduct product monitoring, testing, and basic statistical analysis.
• Maintain and update R&D documents, product specifications, and system records.
• Respond to product and specification enquiries from internal and external parties.
• Monitor products and processes to ensure compliance with quality, food safety, halal, and regulatory requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of product quality and production processes.
• Follow and support the implementation of the company’s quality, food safety, and management system requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Support new biscuit product development from concept, trials, and testing to commercialization.

Work with Procurement to source suitable raw materials and ingredients.

Set and maintain quality standards for ingredients and products.

Conduct product monitoring, testing, and basic statistical analysis.

Maintain and update R&D documents, product specifications, and system records.

Respond to product and specification enquiries from internal and external parties.

Monitor products and processes to ensure compliance with quality, food safety, halal, and regulatory requirements.

Support continuous improvement of product quality and production processes.

Follow and support the implementation of the company’s quality, food safety, and management system requirements.

Qualifications and Skills Required

The ideal candidate should have:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Science, or a related field.

0–2 years of relevant experience in R&D, food manufacturing, or a related field. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Basic knowledge of product development, biscuit/bakery production, baking technology, and raw materials.

Basic understanding of food regulations and quality requirements.

Interest in the food and biscuit industry, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

Good analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.

A positive, proactive, and self-motivated attitude with good attention to detail.

Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with different teams.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
