Job summary

VAT Group in Batu Kawan, Malaysia, is seeking a skilled technician to perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on vacuum-related equipment. You will support engineering teams and ensure adherence to repair procedures and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical repair, a diploma in mechanical engineering or manufacturing, and good English communication. This permanent, on-site role offers a collaborative, international workplace.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in repair or maintenance within the Mechanical Assembly/ Manufacturing industry.
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing or equivalent.
• Proficient in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of defective or non-conforming products and equipment.
• Support engineering teams in failure analysis and root cause investigation of product or process issues.
• Execute repair and rework activities in accordance with repair procedures and quality standards.
• Work closely with engineers to improve repair methods, reduce turnaround time, and enhance repair yield and quality.
• Maintain repair records, service reports, and documentation
• Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and calibration of tools and equipment used in repair processes.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety guidelines during all repair activities.
• Provide feedback to engineering teams on recurring issues and support implementation of corrective actions.
• Support daily tasks as assigned by Management.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

Job Specification

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualification

• 1-2 years of experience in repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance within the Mechanical Assembly / Manufacturing industry.
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing or equivalent.
• Proficient in English.

Preferred Qualification

• 4 years of experience in repair, maintenance, or troubleshooting in Mechanical Assembly industry (Leak Testing / Cleaning / Cleanroom Assembly equipment).
• Proactive, organized, a good team player, and customer-oriented.
• Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in vacuum valve industry and repair/maintenance of leak-tight equipment.
• Sound knowledge of measurement instruments and strong hands-on skills in using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other tools.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
