Job summary

ams OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is seeking a Reliability Engineer to lead project-specific reliability programs and manage REL lab operations in Malaysia. You will drive qualification tests, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure robust product readiness.

With 5+ years in reliability engineering within optical semiconductors, you will oversee equipment and processes, ensure ISO/IEC 17025 compliance, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Electronics/Electrical/Materials), Physics, Chemistry or higher.
• At least 5 years working experience in Reliability Engineering in Optical Semiconductor or related field.
• Experience in laboratories accreditation MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 & IES LM80.
• Knowledge in Reliability statistics, burn in method, testing requirement and REL equipment engineering.
• Experience with Quality tools such as FMEA, 8D is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate project-specific reliability test capabilities, including environmental stress testing and optical/electrical measurements.
• Responsible for REL requests, operations, resource management, and continuous improvement to ensure reliability testing is conducted according to requirements.
• Manage REL lab equipment (Measurement, Burn in system), installation, setup and daily operation, spare part management.
• Support New Product Reliability readiness including PCB design for reliability burn in and related measurement programs.
• Support reliability testing for robustness, production process improvement, task force and ORT with data analysis and reporting.
• Engage in laboratory sustaining activities (ISO/IEC 17025) and provide technical guidance to REL technicians.
• Maintain continuous improvement of REL operation for efficiency and compliance.
• Excellent presentation, supervisory, and multitasking skills; able to interact with all levels of employees.

Job description

The ams OSRAM Opto Semiconductors business offers high-performance opto semiconductor components and in-depth support for state-of-the-art system solutions based on innovative semiconductor light sources. The Business Unit can look back on almost fifty years of production and development expertise.

• Develop and operate project-specific reliability test capabilities, including environmental stress testing and optical/electrical measurements, to support product qualification and project timelines.
• Responsible for REL requests, operations, resource management, and continuous improvement to ensure reliability testing is conducted according to requirements.
• Responsible for overall REL lab equipment (Measurement, Burn in system), installation, setup and daily operation, spare part management to ensure that the equipment are performed in accordance with international standards & timely manner.
• To support New product Reliability readiness which includes product understanding (requirement profile), Involvement in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design for reliability burn in, burn in method and develop measurement programs for reliability testing.
• Support reliability testing for robustness, qualifications, production process improvement, task force and ORT (On going Reliability test) including data analysis, results interpretation, and test status reporting.
• Involvement in laboratory sustaining activities (ISO/IEC 17025) & provide technical advice and guidance to REL technicians.
• Maintaining and continual improvement of REL operation to ensure its efficiency and compliance.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Electronics/Electrical/Materials), Physics, Chemistry or higher.
• At least 5 years working experience in Reliability Engineering in Optical Semiconductor or related field.
• Experience in laboratories accreditation MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 & IES LM80.
• Knowledge and experience in Reliability statistics, burn in method, testing requirement and REL equipment engineering.
• Knowledge in Frontend (FE) technology and processing will be an advantage.
• Experience with Quality tools such as FMEA, 8D is beneficial.
• Experience in large scale projects is highly beneficial.
