Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital is seeking a dedicated nurse to join the Organization and Management team within the ward. You will provide nursing care aligned with the hospital's Vision and Mission, participate in shift duties, and maintain precise documentation for continuity of care.

You will conduct regular rounds, reassess patient needs, and collaborate with doctors to ensure high standards of care. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Carry out nursing care in line with Vision and Mission Statements, Goals and Objectives that suit Nursing Services.
• Works shift duties or as assigned by Unit Manager according to Unit’s Operational Hours.
• Informs Unit Manager when change occurs in circumstances which affect standards of care.
• Receives and handover report of patient, knows the case in detail: Progress of the patient; Ensures all doctors’ orders are carried out before shift change and on taking over case; Any incident or problems encountered.
• Visits every patient in the unit with the team to assess condition, re-plan nursing care, and determine nursing priorities.
• Provides individualized holistic care using the Nursing Process with proper documentation.
• Reports abnormal findings and progress to relevant doctors/consultants.
• Conducts regular nursing rounds to identify additional needs and provide emotional support.
• Assists doctors in ward rounds and procedures as required.
• Carries out doctors’ orders and delegates tasks to team members.
• Liaises with doctors/consultants regarding patient care.
• Establishes effective communication with disciplines, patients and relatives to achieve optimal satisfaction.
• Attends unit meetings and hospital activities.
• Participates in health education of patients and families.
• Assists Unit Manager in administration of the unit/wards when assigned as shift nurse in charge.
• Acts on behalf of Unit Manager in setting standards and expectations for quality care.
• Carries out duties of Unit Manager in her absence as directed.
• Ensures charging of equipment/consumables into patient charges and checks for completeness.
• Checks and documents supply of sterile packs from CSSS and weekly integrity checks.
• Maintains and documents adequate unit stock.
• Carrys out assignments scheduled by Unit Manager and provide feedback.
