Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care aligned with the hospital’s vision and standards. You will work shifts as assigned, hand over detailed patient reports, and ensure orders are followed through before changing shifts.

Qualifications

• Registered with Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Understands and carries out nursing care in line with Vision and Mission Statements, Goals and Objectives that suit the scope of Nursing Services.
• Works shift duties or as assigned by Unit Manager according to Unit’s Operational Hours.
• Informs Unit Manager when change occurs in circumstances which affect standards of care.
• Receives and handover report of patient, knows the case in detail: Progress of the patient.
• Ensures all doctors’ orders are carried out before shift change and on taking over case.
• Raises any incident or problems encountered.
• Visits every patient in the unit with the team to assess condition and compare with report.
• Re-plans nursing care according to assessment or evaluation.
• Determines nursing priorities and plans patient care according to patient’s needs and staff availability.
• Provides individualized holistic care using the Nursing Process with proper documentation in patient files.
• Reports abnormal findings and progress to doctors/consultants.
• Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess needs and provide emotional support to patients/families.
• Follows doctors’ ward rounds and assists with procedures as required.
• Carries out doctors’ orders and delegates tasks to team members.
• Liaises with doctors/consultants regarding patient care in the unit/ward.
• Establishes effective communication with all disciplines, patients and relatives to achieve optimal patient satisfaction.
• Attends unit meetings, dialogue sessions and hospital activities.
• Participates in health education of patients and families in the ward.
• Assists Unit Manager in administration when assigned as shift nurse in charge.
• Acts on behalf of Unit Manager in setting standards and expectations in quality of care.
• Carries out duties of Unit Manager in absence as directed.
• Ensures charges for equipment/consumables are correctly recorded in patient charges and checked for completeness.
• Checks and documents supply of sterile packs from CSSS and weekly packaging integrity.
• Maintains and documents adequate unit stock.
• Carries out assignments scheduled by Unit Manager and provides feedback.
