Regional HR Manager — Southeast Asia

About the Role

Our client, a leading international player in chemicals distribution is seeking a Regional HR Manager to lead the full spectrum of human resources across its Southeast Asia operations. Reporting to global leadership, this is a hands‑on generalist role combining strategic HR partnering with operational delivery across multiple country entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as HR business partner to regional and country leadership, advising on organizational design, workforce planning, and people strategy
• Manage the full employee lifecycle across SEA entities: recruitment, onboarding, performance management, development, and offboarding
• Lead talent acquisition for key positions, working with hiring managers and external partners to build strong pipelines
• Drive compensation and benefits reviews, ensuring regional competitiveness and internal equity; support annual salary review and bonus cycles
• Ensure HR compliance with local labour laws and statutory requirements across Malaysia and other SEA markets, working with local advisors where needed
• Manage employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary processes, and disputes, with sound judgement and discretion
• Develop and harmonise HR policies, processes, and systems across the region
• Support learning and development initiatives and succession planning for critical roles
• Champion employee engagement, culture, and retention initiatives across a multicultural workforce
• Provide accurate HR reporting and analytics to regional and headquarters stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
• 8–12 years of progressive HR generalist experience, with at least 3 years in a regional or multi-country capacity within SEA
• Strong working knowledge of Malaysian employment law; familiarity with other SEA markets (e.g. Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam) highly advantageous
• Proven ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on in a lean regional structure
• Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable partnering with senior leadership and headquarters functions
• Excellent communication skills in English; additional regional languages an advantage
• Willingness to travel within the region as required
