Job summary

Passion Republic seeks a Lighting Artist to craft immersive game environment lighting and cinematic scenes in alignment with the project’s artistic direction. You will balance mood, color theory, light and shadow, and real-time performance to deliver visually compelling results.

Collaborating with the Art Director, engineers and other teams, you will help define lighting direction, implement pipelines, test new tools, and ensure consistency across environments and cut scenes.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated and works well in a team
• Strong understanding of colour space, composition, colour theory, and light and shadow
• Good grasp of modern lighting techniques and physically-based materials for real-time rendering
• Ability to communicate visual mood and aesthetics
• Creative approach to performance optimization in lighting pipelines
• Ability to recreate lighting and mood from concept/art direction
• Experience with Unreal Engine or comparable game engines
• Bonus: film/photography lighting knowledge and node-based workflows

Responsibilities

• Create lighting for game environments following the visual style guide and art direction
• Create lighting for in-game cinematic cut scenes per art direction and story
• Collaborate across departments to define and execute lighting direction for the project
• Work with Art Director and technical artists to balance visual quality and performance
• Design, implement and maintain internal lighting pipeline
• Research new lighting tools and techniques to improve efficiency and visuals
