The Radiographer is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients in accordance with established clinical protocols, radiation safety requirements, departmental procedures, and professional standards. The role involves performing radiographic examinations, ensuring appropriate patient care and positioning, operating imaging equipment safely, maintaining image quality, participating in quality assurance activities, and supporting the smooth daily operation of the Imaging Department.
Key responsibilities
- Perform X-ray and other imaging examinations safely and efficiently.
- Prepare, position, and communicate with patients during examinations.
- Ensure good-quality images and repeat images when necessary.
- Follow radiation safety and infection control procedures.
- Operate and check imaging equipment properly.
- Provide safe, professional, and comfortable patient care.
- Assist radiologists and other healthcare staff when required.
- Maintain accurate patient and examination records.
- Report equipment problems, incidents, and safety concerns promptly.
- Keep the imaging room, equipment, and work area clean and organised.
- Follow hospital and department policies, SOPs, and safety requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement, training, and continuing professional development.
- Work well with doctors, nurses, sonographers, and other healthcare team members.
- Perform other duties assigned by the HOD or supervisor.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of Diploma / Bachelor in Medical Imaging, Radiography or Diagnostic Imaging.
- Minimum 2 years of experience including experience in handling various kinds of Medical Imaging modalities
- Good communications skills, initiative and passion for patient care.
- Able to adapt and flexible to changes within the organization
- Able to work in minimal supervision
- A good team player, a detailed and result oriented person.
- Good communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Ability in other languages is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge and understanding in Hospital Policies and Procedures and inter department clinical / non clinical processes & also IT literate.
- Analyze and understanding to determine appropriate course of actions in complex situations
- Work independently, exercise creativity, attentive to details and maintain a positive attitude
- Manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to priorities scheduling of work
- Maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial and legal information
- Complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
- Handle difficult situations involving patients, specialists or others in a professional manner
