Job summary

Qualifications

• Professional qualification or registration with relevant quantity surveying bodies (preferred).
• 1–2 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Cheng Hoon Air Cond Engineering Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Butterworth, Penang. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the construction and estimating process, ensuring accurate cost assessments, project budgeting, and financial control throughout the project lifecycle. What you'll be doing

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and bills of quantities from architectural and engineering drawings
• Develop accurate cost estimates for construction projects, labour, materials, and equipment
• Conduct site measurements and surveys to assess project scope and requirements
• Analyse tender documents and specifications to ensure comprehensive cost assessments
• Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction phase to ensure adherence to budgets
• Prepare variation orders and change order assessments when project scope modifications occur
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and project managers to obtain quotations and clarify specifications
• Maintain detailed cost records and documentation for audit and reference purposes
• Support the tendering process by providing cost analyses and competitive pricing recommendations
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions to enhance project value

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
• Professional qualification or registration with relevant quantity surveying bodies (preferred)
• Minimum 1-2 years of professional experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
• Strong proficiency with quantity surveying software and tools (e.g., MasterFormat, Planswift, or similar)
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and cost modelling
• In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards
• Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail
• Strong communication and negotiation skills to interact effectively with stakeholders
• Experience in air conditioning, mechanical, or HVAC projects is highly advantageous
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
