Job summary

Mercury Technology Consultancy Sdn Bhd in Penang (George Town) is seeking a detail-oriented QA Test Engineer to analyze product requirements and clarify defects. You will design and execute test cases and plans for web applications, and perform functional and API testing, tracking defects to resolution.

Requirements include 2–3 years in web QA, a Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS, strong API testing with Postman, and good English and Chinese communication.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience in web application testing or software QA.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Solid knowledge of manual testing techniques.
• Hands-on API testing experience using Postman or other tools.
• Good command of Chinese and English; ability to document testing results clearly.

Job description

Analyze product requirements and specifications with a view to clarifying any questions, defects, and bug issues.

Design and execute test cases and test plans with an in-depth understanding of requirements and testing techniques.

Perform testing activities (functional and API) for the testing cycle from start to delivery of tasks and tracking the status of found defects.

Initialize new ideas and contribute to the development team and testing process.

Assist the Line Manager with daily testing activities, progress updates, and other assigned tasks.

Requirements

MUST HAVE

• 2 –3 years of experience in web application testing or software QA.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Solid knowledge of manual testing techniques
• Hands-on experience in API testing using Postman or other relevant tools.
• Good command of Chinese and English, with the ability to communicate effectively and document testing results clearly.
• Strong interest in QA Testing, with a proactive mindset, willingness to learn, and the ability to work independently.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience in end-to-end testing or API test automation.
• Basic understanding of programming or scripting languages used in test automation.
• Good time management, task prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with applying AI tools to software testing activities.
