Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a detail-oriented Software QA Engineer to work in a highly autonomous remote environment. You will ensure the stability and reliability of our gaming-related platforms, collaborating with the development team to investigate root causes and improve overall quality.

The role focuses on test planning, functional testing, bug tracking, retesting, and providing actionable feedback to engineers, with an emphasis on manual testing during a fully remote setup.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

We are looking for a detail-oriented Software QA Engineer with strong logical and analytical thinking skills. You will work in a highly autonomous remote environment to ensure the stability and reliability of our systems and gaming platforms.

We value more than just identifying issues. We are looking for someone who can also help the development team investigate, identify the root causes of issues, and improve overall product quality.

1. Test Planning

• Gain a thorough understanding of business requirements and translate them into comprehensive test cases.
• Develop and execute test plans to ensure sufficient test coverage and product completeness before release.

2. Functional Testing

• Conduct comprehensive functional testing to ensure that web applications and system behaviours meet specified requirements.
• Maintain consistency and reliability across the user experience.

3. Bug Lifecycle Management

• Identify and accurately document bugs and defects.
• Record detailed reproduction steps in internal collaboration and project management tools, such as Plane.

4. Issue Tracking and Retesting

• Work closely with frontend and backend developers to monitor bug resolution progress.
• Perform thorough retesting to validate fixes and ensure no outstanding issues or risks remain.

5. Technical Feedback

• Leverage your technical knowledge to assist the engineering team in analysing the root causes of issues.
• Provide effective testing recommendations and feedback to improve product quality.

Requirements

1. Testing Experience

• At least 1 year of hands-on software testing experience.
• Familiarity with standard software testing processes and the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

2. Cross-Platform Testing

• Experience testing both web and mobile applications.
• Ability to independently execute test cases and accurately identify and troubleshoot issues.

3. Self-Management

• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively while maintaining productivity and timely delivery in a remote working environment.

4. Analytical Thinking

• Basic understanding of software development principles and how applications operate.
• Strong logical reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills.

5. Attention to Detail & Work Attitude

• High level of patience, attention to detail and a methodical approach to manual testing.

• Familiarity with frontend test automation tools such as Selenium or Robot Framework.

2. API Testing

• Strong hands-on experience in API testing using tools such as Postman or JMeter.
• Ability to assist in testing and validating complex backend logic.

3. AI-Assisted Testing

• Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot to write test scripts or generate test data is an advantage.

4. Industry Experience

• Experience in the gaming industry, high-concurrency systems or payment processing/financial transaction testing would be highly advantageous.

Additional note to candidates: This is a remote position with a strong emphasis on manual testing, independent work and close collaboration with frontend and backend developers. Automation and API testing experience would be an added advantage.
