Job summary

myNEWS HOLDINGS BERHAD is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to oversee direct-import Korean CU items, liaise with international suppliers, and ensure compliance with Malaysia's import regulations. The role requires strong forecasting, pricing and margin skills, plus coordination of promotions with Marketing and Operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in purchasing, import-export, or retail merchandising.
• Demonstrated supervisory or team-lead experience.
• Exposure to direct import operations, preferably in the food or FMCG sector.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of direct-import Korean CU items and liaise with Korea BGF, supplier LJ, and freight forwarder CMR.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian food import regulations and manage required import licences.
• Monitor stock levels and shelf life; forecast 2–3 months ahead and place orders with management approval.
• Coordinate promotions for imported Korean products with Marketing and Operations teams.
• Prepare price adjustment lists and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Calculate margins for new product listings and supplier price increases.
• Develop item planogram templates and submit to Space Planning.
• Prepare slides and materials for nationwide meetings; issue internal memos and manage CU operations.

• Manage the procurement of direct-import Korean CU items; serve as the primary liaison with Korea BGF and supplier LJ, and with freight forwarder CMR.

• Understand and ensure compliance with Malaysian food import regulations; identify items requiring additional import licences and manage the application process.

• Monitor stock levels and shelf life; prepare purchase forecasts 2-3 months in advance and submit orders upon management approval.

• Plan and coordinate promotions for imported Korean products in collaboration with the Marketing and Operations teams.

• Prepare price adjustment lists and distribute to merchandising assistants for execution; ensure accuracy and timeliness.

• Calculate price margins for new product listings and supplier price increases.

• Develop new item planogram templates and submit to the Space Planning team.

• Prepare slides and supporting materials for nationwide meetings.

• Issue internal memos and manage operational matters across the CU category.

C. Team Supervision

• Supervise, guide, and develop 2 merchandising assistants handling CU-category administrative tasks.

• Delegate tasks appropriately and review outputs to maintain accuracy and quality standards.

Job Requirements:

Experience

• Minimum 5 years' experience in purchasing, import-export, or retail merchandising.

• Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or team-lead capacity.

• Prior exposure to direct import operations, preferably in the food or FMCG sector.

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of Malaysian food import regulations, customs procedures, and import licensing requirements.

• Ability to liaise effectively with international suppliers and freight forwarders.

• Strong numerical aptitude for pricing, margin calculation, and stock forecasting.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

• Good communication and coordination skills across multiple internal and external stakeholders.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines concurrently.

Education

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.

• Relevant professional certification in import-export or customs is an advantage.
