PROJECT MANAGER (KUALA LUMPUR-BASED)

Job summary

Bureau Veritas | Marine & Offshore Malaysia seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead solar and infrastructure projects, coordinating clients, EPCs, authorities and internal teams.

You will manage schedules, budgets, risk, QA/QC, HSE compliance, and handover to Operations, while ensuring documentation and approvals are completed. Travel to sites in Malaysia is expected with 5–8 years PM experience.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5-8 years of project management experience in solar/renewable energy or infrastructure.
• Familiarity with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and project reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage overall project execution schedule, budget, scope and deliverables.
• Coordinate with clients, EPC contractors, consultants, authorities and internal teams.
• Track project progress and provide regular updates to management.
• Identify project risks, delays and issues, and propose practical solutions.
• Ensure proper project documentation, approvals and records are maintained.
• Oversee site activities and ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, method statements and project requirements.
• Coordinate internal and external kick-off meetings and progress reviews.
• Monitor contractor performance, manpower, materials and work quality.
• Support resolution of technical, site and coordination issues.
• Ensure contractors comply with project HSE, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Support HSE inspections, risk assessments and permit-to-work closures.
• Ensure safe execution of high-risk activities including work at height, lifting, electrical works and roof works.
• Coordinate with HSE team for site inspections and risk assessments.
• Act as the key project contact for client coordination and updates.
• Manage client expectations professionally and escalate key matters.
• Coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspections and authority approvals.
• Ensure punch list items are tracked and closed.
• Support project handover to Operations and Maintenance.
• Ensure final documentation, as-built drawings, warranties and completion records are compiled.

• Coordinate with local authorities, building owners, landlords and other stakeholders where applicable.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspections and authority approvals.
• Ensure punch list items are tracked and closed.
• Support project handover to Operations and Maintenance team.
• Ensure final documentation, as-built drawings, warranties and completion records are compiled.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 5-8 years of project management experience, preferably in solar, renewable energy, electrical, construction or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and project reporting tools.
• Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, site progress, client coordination and project close-out.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site constraints, document control, progress tracking and project reporting.
• Working knowledge of Malaysian project requirements, including ST / Energy Commission, DOSH, CIDB, local authority and utility-related coordination will be an advantage.
• Solar rooftop or utility-scale solar project experience.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, Experience with testing and commissioning, energization readiness and handover to O&M.
• Experience working with clients, EPC contractors and consultants.
• Able to travel to project sites in Malaysia and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
