Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Malaysia is seeking a Project Manager for Grid Automation to lead customer projects from order booking through commissioning and close-out. You will be the primary point of contact for project execution, ensuring safety, on-time delivery, and quality.

This role involves coordinating with customers, engineering teams, suppliers and internal stakeholders across the region to drive successful outcomes, manage schedules and budgets, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronics engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of project management experience in electrical, power, automation, industrial, EPC, or infrastructure environments.
• Experience managing customer-facing technical projects with scope, schedule, cost and stakeholder management.
• Exposure to power systems, substations, grid automation, data centers or related industries is advantageous.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
• PMP certification preferred; PMP candidates encouraged to apply.
• Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and commercial project management is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites and project locations.

• Monitor progress, financial performance, cash flow, risks and opportunities; drive mitigations.
• Ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy quality standards, contractual commitments and HSE requirements.
• Prepare regular project status reports and communicate performance to stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned across teams.

As a Project Manager within Hitachi Energy's Grid Automation business, you will be responsible for leading and delivering customer projects from order booking through commissioning and project close-out. You will serve as the primary point of contact for project execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical power system, substation, automation, and data center projects that support the ongoing energy transition and digitalization of electrical infrastructure. You will collaborate with customers, engineering teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders across the region to drive successful project outcomes.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Lead and manage Grid Automation projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from project initiation to completion.
• Act as the primary customer interface for all project delivery activities and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, cost forecasts, and risk registers.
• Coordinate with customers, engineering teams, suppliers, contractors, and internal functions to ensure timely project execution.

Your Background

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Approximately 3-5 years of project management experience within electrical, power, automation, industrial, EPC, or infrastructure environments.
• Experience managing customer-facing technical projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, cost, and stakeholder management.
• Exposure to power systems, substations, grid automation, data centers, or related industries will be highly advantageous.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
• PMP certification is preferred; candidates pursuing PMP certification are encouraged to apply.
• Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and commercial project management practices is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites and project locations as required.
