Job summary

UPM Raflatac Sdn. Bhd. in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to drive capital and plant improvement projects. You will develop layouts, specifications, drawings, and documentation while coordinating suppliers, contractors, and internal teams across the project lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on experience with production equipment, rotating equipment, and piping in a manufacturing setting, plus strong CAD and technical documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in mechanical/industrial projects.
• Experience with engineering drawings, CAD tools, and document management.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities for capital investment projects, MOP projects, and plant improvement initiatives.
• Develop and review mechanical concepts, equipment layouts, technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project documentation.
• Coordinate suppliers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, startup, and handover.
• Review technical proposals, contractor designs, installation plans, and mechanical interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
• Coordinate mechanical, piping, utility, civil, electrical, and automation interfaces to ensure safe and effective project execution.
• Participate in inspections, acceptance tests, commissioning, punch-list closure, and operational handover.
