Job summary

UPM Raflatac Sdn Bhd in Johor Bahru, Malaysia is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical activities for capital investment projects and plant improvements. You will coordinate suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders through design, procurement, construction, installation, and handover.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least five years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, industrial projects, manufacturing engineering, or maintenance engineering.
• Experience in project execution, civil and mechanical construction coordination, equipment installation, commissioning, and contractor management.
• Hands-on experience with production equipment, rotating equipment, pumps, piping, utilities, and mechanical systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with engineering drawings, CAD tools, and technical document management.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities for capital investment projects, MOP projects, and plant improvement initiatives. Develop and review mechanical concepts, equipment layouts, technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project documentation.
• Coordinate suppliers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, startup, and handover. Review technical proposals, contractor designs, installation plans, and mechanical interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
• Coordinate civil and structural works including foundations, equipment supports, platforms, building modifications, drainage, and related interfaces.
• Coordinate interfaces across mechanical, piping, utility, civil, electrical, and automation disciplines to ensure safe and effective project execution; act as Project Manager for assigned MOP projects.
• Provide technical support for mechanical breakdowns, equipment reliability issues, and maintenance activities; support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
